October 23, 200817 yr I do. I have been caught on numerous times mumbling away to myself. I put it down as being a single woman with two cats. My excuse is that i am not ranting and raving at myself - it must be the puddies that i am having a really long drawn out conversation with. I really don't see anything wrong with it - i can have a good argument and always win etc. and harm no one with my ascerbic wit... What are your views on this - or am i just a wierd person? PS the first time i went to Thailand a friend stated i should not talk to myself because i would be considered a witch.
October 23, 200817 yr Not weird at all Patts, I do it all the time. I'm sure that living on your own is a contributory factor though.
October 23, 200817 yr I do also. In fact, i was just rollocking myself for falling asleep on the settee last night, after a few beers. Don't worry though, i spoke up for myself and got away without getting grounded
October 23, 200817 yr I'm always assured of a good converation, so yes I do too. Although I never laugh at my own jokes, as I have already heard them!
October 23, 200817 yr Me: Never talk to Myself. Myself: Who are you trying to kid motor-mouth ? It's always "Me, Me, Me" ! I: Would you two shut up already ! I am tired of your bickering ! Myself: OoOoO ! "I am tired" sounds almost as whiny as "Me, Me, Me" ! Me: Hey, leave Me out of it ! I: That does it ! I am going to sleep ! Me: Me too ! Myself: Well, I guess Me, Myself and I are out of here ! (bah ! With friends like these, who needs other people !)
October 23, 200817 yr I agree with Tigger, intelligent conversation is so hard to come by that talking to yourself is often the only option. Mind you, there are several things that you can enjoy by yourself that are usually classified as shared activities.
October 23, 200817 yr I've caught my TGF babling away to herself and when asked who she was talking to she replied "I talk alone". Now I just say "you talk alone?" Always gets a laugh from her.

I always laugh at my own jokes, it's one of the good things about Alzheimers. One of the advantages of talking to yourself is that you never ask "what are you thinking about?" in the quiet moments.
October 23, 200817 yr I do. Me too, but that doesn't worry me, it's the dribbling that makes people stare Moss
October 24, 200817 yr I do. Me too, but that doesn't worry me, it's the dribbling that makes people stare Moss So true, Couple the dribbles with hair loss and a bad smell, it's no wonder I talk to myself.
October 24, 200817 yr Talking to yourself is usually ok. Animated solo conversations; self-arguing; or flailing around lavishly at imaginary assailants however, is another matter... Its just a matter of degree.

October 24, 200817 yr Do You Talk To Yourself? I only find out the following day - depending on which member of staff I was talking to at the time!
October 24, 200817 yr Do You Talk To Yourself?I only find out the following day - depending on which member of staff I was talking to at the time! Me too, very annoying !!
October 24, 200817 yr Do You Talk To Yourself?I only find out the following day - depending on which member of staff I was talking to at the time! Me too, very annoying !! I think chavy's main problem is drinking himself to sleep in a bar & waking before closing and starting all over again! Never mind the mumbling....
October 24, 200817 yr I had several conversations today with other people, but the net affect was, I was only talking to myself. Wish I'd stayed in bed instead.
October 24, 200817 yr I talk to the trees - that's why they put me away One of my mothers favorites....... If you can sing 'It's only Scotts Emulsion that I feel" I may have to call you Dad
October 25, 200817 yr I talk to the trees - that's why they put me away One of my mothers favorites....... If you can sing 'It's only Scotts Emulsion that I feel" I may have to call you Dad Sorry. don't recall that on 208. Ticka ticka Timex - yes Scott's emulsion - no Alka seltzer - speedy Alka seltzer - yes Dickie Valentine and Lita Rosa - yes. Alzheimers is still not obvious - insanity sometimes is.
October 25, 200817 yr Wasn't it Clint Eastwood who sang I talk to the trees? Yep ! From the musical movie "Paint Your Wagon" (one of my all-time favourites). (I converted the lyrics of "No Name City" to "Pattaya City" a couple years ago) Which brings up the question then. Is singing alone (with no one around) the same as talking to yourself ?
October 25, 200817 yr Which brings up the question then. Is singing alone (with no one around) the same as talking to yourself?I sing to my dogs - but everyone does that - don't they ? [Explains why it's noisy outside the house at a weekend!]

[Explains why it's noisy outside the house at a weekend!] I imagine so, if everyone is coming around singing to your dogs ! Do the dogs think you are nuts when you sing to them ?
October 25, 200817 yr Do the dogs think you are nuts when you sing to them ? Everything is forgiven at food time. In fact that's one of the few times when one of my dogs wakes up, if he isn't eating or walking, he's asleep, even standing up.
October 25, 200817 yr Author I sing to myself ocassionally - probably when i'm not talking to myself. And sometimes i watch u-tube and sing along as well (usually Elvis). Time to get out more i think!!! But, seriously, i think it all boils down to fact that we like our own company. And, as the saying goes, if you like yourself then others shall like you too. But the worst is if i am on the bus or in the shops and start muttering away....
October 25, 200817 yr Well, I have been caught out talking out loud to myself in public on more than one occasion. I just smile and pretend like the other person is the crazy one
