Border Run

Recommended Posts

Just got back from Aranya ,quick update for all............no show of funds required ........last time i was there in September a "runner" did the leg work getting my in and out Cambodian stamps while i waited where they hand out the yellow medical certificates (20 baht ones), you cant do this now you must go to the arrivals yourself and have your photo taken on a webcam hooked to a PC and then go to departures and repeat the procedure.........time spent at border 90 mins.

Did you have tourist visa? or you just got there to get 30days stay stamp?

If you had tourist visa, how many times did you get tourist visa until now?

and where did you get tourist visa?

I am curious because I am wondering which is better to go to border every 30days or get tourist visa.

Non Immigrant visa..........so out and back in every 90 days . I used to go there on a Tourist visa which i obtained in Penang (Malaysia)..........its up to you if you wish to border hop every 30 days but i would advise you to obtain a Tourist visa (either single or double , triple) for your own peace of mind......one trip down to Penang and you/ll be sorted out for a while.

Where did you get non immigrant visa?

How many years have you stayed thailand so far?

Are you a normal tourist same as myself?

If so I also like to get non immigrant visa

England(Hull)........... 6 years.........normal tourist (to all intents and purposes yes).

Why did you need to get visa in england?

Is it difficult to get non immigrant visa in penang?

I am not english man,  but if I go to the thai embassy in england,

I can also get non immigrant visa?

or it is easy just for english man there?

If you intend to apply for a plain and simple Non Immigrant 0 visa not based on marriage to a Thai citizen, you wont get one in Penang......you should be able to obtain a double or maybe even a triple tourist visa there however (a triple would give you 9 months in Thailand with 2 border runs) (a double 6 months with 1 border run). If you are not a British national you will not be able to obtain a Non Immigrant visa in the UK............you will have to return to your country of residence to apply and even then some countries and even Consulates within a particular country are more "user friendly" than others, you may be refused a Non Imm in your own country.

It is out of point but I like to know you are british man and england is very far from thai , and there are many east european countries where the economical life cost is reasonable same as thailand, why dont you try to stay at such countries?

I am in Samui and need to get a stamp quickly, what would be the best course to take? (UK 30 day entry stamp currently)

I am on a diving course which I have just discovered expires the day after my Visa!! Don't mind leaving the country permanently then but don't want to be refused entry should I wish to return to Thailand in the future as so much more to see and do.

Thanks

You have 3 options.........1. Nip down to the Malaysian border and come back in (you/ll get another 30 day stay stamp) 2. Pay 1 days (200baht/day) overstay at the airport when you leave.....but do realise that if you have your passport checked for whatever reason before you get to the airport you risk arrest and deportation. 3. Go to local immigration in Samui and apply for a 10 day extension (1900 baht) to your stay........take your plane ticket (and copies of passport and passport photo) with you to support the application. Out of the 3 options i/d go for number 3.............but i/d go a couple of days before your present stay expires just incase you get turned down (which i doubt) then you have time for option 1.
