Visa O, One Way Ticket

Featured Replies

Can somebody inform me if I have problems when I enter Thailand with an 1 year marriage Visa O multiple entrance and don't have a return ticket?

Thanks in advance for the given information

You won't have any problem entering Thailand.

The issue is checking in for your flight to Thailand. Usually it is OK to have a 1 way if you are holding any kind of visa, but there is a chance you may be challenged. I think you will be OK if you are challenged and you hold your ground and insist to board, they may make you sign a statement of responsibility to pay your own return if rejected in Thailand.

If you want to prevent the small chance of not being able to board, you could be paranoid and buy a throwaway ticket out of Thailand to a nearby country that leaves within 30 days. Most people probably wouldn't, but that would give you pretty much a 100 percent chance of being boarded.

Absolutely no problem.

If the airline plays up when you check in, point out that you have visa...........

Many of us live in Thailand and regularly travel with only a ticket into the country. :o

I agree astral but not every airline agent is an expert on Thai visas. Recently checking in with a reentry permit and a used visa but a valid extension of stay, the agent looked confused and didn't seem to know what a reentry permit was, but my confident definitive tone of voice about the legitimacy of the permit shut her up. I am just saying if you run across a difficult clerk don't be cowed, be politely confident and assertive that you know you have the right to board (because of course you do).

An airline agent dos not have to be an expert on Thai visas. They can do a few key strokes on their computer and can get this information.

Those travelling to Thailand with a visa issued prior to

arrival, are permitted to travel on a one-way ticket.

This from a link to a IATA website from Delta.

You probably confused them with the re-entry permit. Show them your 1 year extension stamp.

The re-entry permit is only for Thai immigration.

Same difference, Extension stamp, reentry permit. The knee jerk thing is to look for a valid visa without a USED stamp on it. I never said this is a problem. I am just saying these clerks are trained to pay attention to people going on one way tickets so be mentally prepared to stand your ground if you are unlikely to get an uninformed one. Also, people RETURNING to Thailand on second leg RT tickets are not the same as people who show up with a ONE WAY ticket.

Just arrived in the same situation. Had no problems at all. Flew EVA Air. They did not have any questions upon checking in. No problems on arrival.
