Yes, I heard about this a few days ago. It cleans the beach. I wonder if it gets all the cigarette butts?

Good stuff!

In Sidney/Bondi and St.Kilda/Melbourne Beaches similar machines even picked up syringes/needles with an electromagnetic device added!

Never saw a needle on Lamai beach, just lot's of garbage and broken bottles....

With what the hi end resort charge they should pass the cleaning machine every hour, but 2 days a week will leave the beach in a very nice state. :o

Green Cross was trying to raise money for that machine. I wonder if it was them. Hey maybe they did buy it with some of the money for the entrance from Samui Party goers.

Okay this is what we found out after talking to Mr. Boonsong from Phangan Bayshore. This this machine comes from the new Haad Rin Tourist Association it was built for 150,000 THB and picks up just about everything (but not cigarette buts). The association is also hiring Thai services men for security during Full Moon, an extra 1000 soldiers patrolling the party. Little too late? Or just what is needed? :o

does it clean out the smell of kerosene? haad rin beach smells like the runway at a busy airport.

That is residue spill overs from the "Fire-Artists", doing their Shows and the many kerosine torches, "vulcan lights"... yes very, very bad for marine life!
