I am back from a brilliant holiday in Patong, was there in October time.

I met a really lovely 'bar girl' and I spent 5 days with her. She had good english, writing, speaking and reading, very affectionate and intelligent girl.

I am back home in Britain but do keep in touch with her by phone. Used to be on the phone once a week but recently she calls me every night, sometimes 3 or 4 times. Every time I do answer I have to call her back as she has no money on her phone.

I do like this girl very much but to be honest I cannot see this progressing any further as I am not likely to be in Thailand again until next year and the cost of talking to her everyday can be a bit much.

Has anyone else had the same reaction from girls in Thailand and what did you do ??

Should I keep this up with the girl ??

Or how do I let her down gently to say I cannot speak to her any more ??

Tell her to phone you only when she has money on her phone!!!

This is a thai habit to phone, wait for you to call back.. so you pay the bill!!!

I'd be honest with her. Tell her you dont have the dosh to call her every day- too much baht. If you want to keep in touch then maybe once a month or just settle for text message every now and again.

All you can do is revert to email and only speak personally maybe once a week.

When i first came to LOS and went back to the UK i was doing 300 quid phone bills a month. Are webcams a possibility?

if you do want to call her, use this number 08717723723. it makes call cheaper.

keep in touch with her, try a phone card called i call about 4p a min to mobile or landline in thailand.

When you tell her you cannot afford the cost of the phone

calls she will not call you again.

And i thought i was the only one ! I end paying for all my wife's phone calls to her friends and family - should have seen my phone bill last month !!

Have a look at Callserve. It's an Internet to Phone service based in the UK.

You download the program and purchase calltime via credit card etc when needed.

Most times it has a clear line and a lot cheaper than normal Phone to Phone calls.

I've checked the rates and they aren't as cheap as the service simba mentioned but it may be a good alternative.

Voice chat on MSN or you can use both - webcam and voice chat, all through MSN.

MSN is free and i believe most of the internet cafe in Thailand do have webcam and microphone available. The cost would be only the internet usage, which is very cheap.
