It's that time of the year again. Best movies, best books etc lists are appearing in the papers.

So what was the highlight of your year?

Lets keep politics out of it, I'm fully aware that the Obama election was the best/worst thing that you think happened this year but we're all bored with that <deleted>.

And while we're at it what was the worst thing that happened.

Best thing - I moved out of the village.

Worst thing - Found out I have dangerously high blood pressure.

Best thing. The birth of my baby girl, Tia at 08:30 Saturday 6 Sept. Weighing in at 6lb 9oz

Worst thing. Can't get hold of Oxo cubes in Saudi.

Worse things:

Loss of a significant part of my "safe, play money" held in a managed fund, and health problems which resulted in me having to use crutches and walking sticks for a lengthy period of the year.

Best things:

Eventual improvement in mobility to the point I can now get around without said aids and can again visit shops, etc and plan my next Thailand trip.

This week I received a free $1400 from the Govt. as part of an "economic stimulous package."

Oh, and unlimited amounts of oxo cubes available if I get the urge to indulge!

Best thing, my oldest and favoritest nephew got married to a lovely girl and they fell pregnant (accidentally, they say) within four months.

Worst thing. hmmm...

can I post two worst things that are connected?

Construction of a massive resort going up next door whose noise and dust caused an allergic bronchitis reaction and high blood pressure.

Best thing: After ..hmm 2 years plus of being single (by choice I may add!), allowing someone back into my life again.

Worse thing: A health issue

Worst thing - My dad dying in March then hubbies fav uncle getting killed by a hit & run 2 weeks later

Best thing - it was moving & cutting 300gbp a month off my rent but 2 days ago found out that we get a 75% discount on my sons education at the private school my hubby works at, so that has won now. I love saving money Sadly this year has not been good for emotional/personal things so these two are the best I can come up with.

Best thing...separating with my wife

Worst thing...losing my kids.

Maybe 126 rocket attacks (or more) and not a scratch !

Having to work in a place that gets 126+ rocket attacks (or more).

(but hey, it pays the bills and lets me live in Thailand, where it is only slightly safer, at times !)

Best thing: freedom to start a new business and try doing something I enjoy to make a living.

Worst thing: needing to start up a new business after resigning my job.

Worst thing: My daughter being very sick, which scared the <deleted> out of the misses and I.

Best thing: My daughter being diagnosed with epilepsy meaning that she could be properly treated.

Asides from that, 2008 has been a tad quiet for me.

Best was for me this photo taken in May this year:-

Worst was that no planes arrived and took off during a 10 day period. November to December 2008.

2008 I have attempted to keep as peaceful a year as I can. No momentous changes or dramatic events, really.

(genuine) best: Probably similar to Eek, Allowing somebody to get close to me, and feeling hugely good (increasingly so, as time goes on...) about this woman.

(genuine) worst: Probably the last time I cheated on her, when I finally realised, "Holy Cr@p, I actually feel bad about this. I actually fear losing her over something so stupid."

(Potential next best/worst combo of 2008 still to come though: I'm going to Odessa, Black sea coast of the Ukraine, in a week, a guy's only trip. )
