Divorce,house And Alimony

Recommended Posts

:D:D Hallo everyone,

can anyone tell me if there is any difference between legally marrying in Thailand or in your own country in terms of alimony(previous children form other man)

or house division following divorce?

If the house is in the farang's name only is the lady still entitled to a share or not?

Just to know.......just in case......

Many thanks :D:o

hmm, for a start the house will never be in the farangs name. s for the rest my best gues (and that is all it is) is that it depends on the agreements between thailand and your own country.

Others will have a clearer picture.

However, it seems you need to learn a lot more before you commit yourself.

First off, if this is an issue you need to consider on Christmas Eve, can I suggest you see a lawyer - soon.

Second, Thailand has no concept of alimony (in the Western sense).

Third, I have to assume you are the farang (woman) and your husband is Thai (male). In such a case, division of property - post divorce - may well be different than would otherwise be the case if you were a Thai [female] married to a [farang] man.
