I and my partner are looking to buy a new motorbike in Pattaya. We think the Honda Click 125 and Suzuki Wave 125 would be the perfect purchase, given our needs(113 kg. for the two of us) and our habits (35-45 mph), hoping to avoid the crazies and daredevils as much as possible and not driving at night, except on side roads. I priced both models at 41,000 baht at one dealer. Is there a better price somewhere in the Pattaya area?

i assume you mean honda wave 125 cc.....

if you go by yourself looking for the bike, most of the time you will get similar price. try asking your thai friend to make a buy for you.

What kind of paperwork do you need to buy a motorbike from a dealer? I hear different stories on this. It seems you should just need a passport and work permit, or, a residency certificate in lieu of a work permit. I'm looking at a new Neuvo.

@Prices: Don't think they are different for Thais/Farangs. Ask around in case you hit the one bad shop first but in general everyone knows the prices... I know I paid the normal price for my Wave at the time.

@Paperwork: Just got a license plate in Chiang Mai, what you need for that is a Visa (I have a non-O), and a rental agreement as proof of your address, you take those two to the immigration office, add two photographs and copies of everything including passport, and they give you a proof of residence. 500 BHT, valid for 15 days. With that, the dealer can register the bike in your name and get a license plate. Very simple once you know how it works. If you don't have a rental agreement just get one from your friendly guest house...
