Tailor In Chiang Rai?

Recommended Posts

Posted

I'll be in Chiang Rai for 5 days in a couple of months. Usually in Bangkok or Phuket I'll have a few suits made, this year I won't be in either place for long so I'm wondering if it's reasonable to do the same thing in Chiang Rai and if so who would be especially recommended?

Thanks for any advice.

I saw this old Chinese tailor working in his little shop. It is the street on the right from the Wang Come hotel. I don't know if he's good, but I need to find one for myself.

Chinese or a tailor? If the one your are thinking about is called "international" or something similar it is recommendable. It's the official tailor of Mae Fha Luang Uni, classy!

I saw the one Kumsamut recommends. Next to Starbright hotel. Customized suits. Going to ask for information.

Goski , I am also going to check out the one you mentioned.

Gleff, I am curious what you experience is with one of these tailors. Please post, will you?

new jacket (suit) : 2200 baht. 3000 baht incl. fabric.

jacket just adjustment size: 500 baht

reparation new inside layer of the jacket: 1000 baht.

This was for ladies, I don't if prices are different for men.

The Chinese tailor doesn't speak English, but a young girl speaks very good English.

It's a busy man I think, because it wil be finished in a week.

I gave him a jacket to repair to see how good he is.

Opposite of Edison store.

Btw, the tailor across the Wang come hotel is not what you are looking for. She directed me to the one across the Edison store.

Goski, by reading your post for the second time, I understand that the one I went (opposite Edison) is the one who makes uniforms for the University. But is he really the only good one in CRai?

Is the tailor next to the Starbright Hotel still the one to go to?

I am going to a friends wedding in Australia next year and I'm a grooms man, so he has asked me to send him some measurements for the suit.

Last time I bought some trousers here I just took them to a local sewing shop and they made them too short, so I don't trust them to measure me up for a suit...

thanks,

Rich
