I've just returned from hunting-gathering in Silom and the Boots at Silom Complex does not have the body butter on sale. It is 200 baht for a small jar. The Boots across the street offers it at the same price. I guess it is like the banks, everything changes according to postal code.

I had understood the promotion was going until the end of March. Every Boots store in Pattaya has honored it. Sorry you couldn't score your cheap butter.

This thread proves the profitability of the men's cosmetic product line.

Sadly, for every 1000 baht spent, the ingredients purchased are worth about 200 baht.

Boys, make your own. Besides, have a look at some of the ingredients. scary chemicals some of them are.

Oh, pleeeeaaaazzzzeeee ...

Starbucks latte costs about 10 cents to produce but I won't be starting a coffee plantation with dairy cows either. Its called capitalism. Enjoy it while it lasts. Excuse me now, time to loofah.

I use bodyshop butter? not sure of the price as the missus buys it and I use it daily. I also use the wife's evening eye/face care cream! Does this mean I'm gay? :o

Only if you are cute.

(Its true, we do recruit, but we have standards. If you do meet our standards there may just be a free toaster in it for you.)

Cute might not be the word that I would use but I'm nice and clean and smell of cocunut most days including my bits.

Would prefer a kettle as I've just bought a new shiny toaster.

Well you sound eager enuf, but really, we are not open for everyone, unlike the Mormons. You have to be willing to worship at the alter of Sodom. Perhaps a special "meeting" of the elders of Fire Island is in order.

Its for the best. Those who are truly called would never turn down a trip to Fire Island.

Couldn't we make an exception for someone whose bits smell (and presumably taste) of coconut? I'm very partial to a Bounty bar.

I have never been a skin care person, even after leaving the closet (I hesitate to say 'come out of the closet'). But the Thai BF fills all our shelves in the shower and above the lavatory with creams and lotions and moisturizers

I can relate to the above. My bf is a walking skin specialist, although he just sighs quietly when I refuse to experiment different kind of oils and so on. I'm allergic to most of the stuff they put in those jars anyway. I used to explore cosmetics long time ago when going through the chemistry studies (I actually am spesialized in color chemistry) and found out that some stuff they put in is actually very scary and certainly unhealthy.

Most of the expensive stuff is anyway made out of purified coconut cream so I wonder why don't people just simply carve coconuts and splash it to their faces..? Would make a scary appearance in the morning, I guess. :o

Some days I use cold pressed VIRGIN coconut oil instead of ORGANIC BODY BUTTER. It takes a very long time to dry and is a bit too strong smelling, but it is good at the beach sometimes. I like using something fully made in Thailand. That stuff isn't cheap either but yes cheaper than body butter when it is not on sale.

Doing research for your sociology class, are we?

BTW, are you dried out farangs with the moisturized Thai boyfriends implying that there is a connection with being well moisturized and being a bottom? Just asking ...

Moisturizing? Ewwww.....you're all so GAY! It's a latent feminine trait, I'm sure of it! :o

Seriously, my Thai B/F works for slave wages in BKK and barely has enough to cover basic monthly expenses. However, the value of the assortment of moisturizers and creams in his bathroom could re-stock the gold reserves in Fort Knox.

Further, once you've lived in most western (and drier) countries, where the skin REALLY can dry out, you see little need to moisturize yourself in such a humid, tropical climate as Thailand--which naturally moisturizes your body. Every trip I make back to my home country dries me up like a fallen leaf. As soon as I return to Thailand, the climate naturally softens me back up again like a juicy (peeled) tomato, ready for the pickin'. Anyone agree?

I totally don't agree. I admit I am extreme case, I have a medical need to moisturize. It took me too long to realize that you also need to exfoliate, so I am probably not gay enuf really. People take more showers here and need to be careful to not use the kind of soap that dries you out. I don't find SWEAT to be an ideal kind of moisturizer. Yes, it is true cold weather dries the skin, but like I said, so does too many soapy showers.

Might be... :o some truth in it. At least, in my experience, the other half seems to be worrying getting old and ugly and that I will leave him then...just like some ladies that while buying expensive coconut cream telling that they do it for their husbands. LOL

However, I agree with the poster above that I feel dried up in Europe, not in LOS. Those visits are normally the only occations when I apply some cream on my childlike smooth skin. :D

Also, moisturizing ones skin can cause the skin itself to produce less natural ingredients so one becomes more dependant on those of chemical nature. I've seen and witnessed some Thai ladies that would be better off doing nothing to their skins for couple of months. Overdoing it might cause all kinds of problems as well like acne and infections. This mainly caused by the chemicals in the stuff.

BTW, I would've never guessed that this issue becomes so popular in gay section. Maybe "moisturizing" by any other name is a gay thing after all.

OK, here's the drill: In the morning, wash with tea tree oil soap and moisturize with something containing sunscreen.

Bedtime, exfoliate....then start the cycle again.

Exfoliate? Do you need some kind of special genitals to do this?

Genitals with a high pain threshold?

OMG, ROFLMAO!

For some reason I'm the opposite. A couple of winters in America, and I started having the need to moisturize. Even though I've come back to fairly humid climes, in extreme cases I can get dry+itchy and it'll be hard to sleep. It might be I'm not drinking drink enough water.

At the moment I've got access to purpose-made emulsifiers, so I can take water and say, sweet almond oil (or mineral oil for cheapness), and make cheap body cream/lotion out of them. Having said that, I do have a tube of Aesop's expensive geranium body balm, for when my gayness drops below the mininum threshold.
