Have you any regrets? I don't mean not becoming a brain surgeon or flying to the moon but little things that, looking back, you wish you'd done. A constant regret for me is not taking up the offer of learning Latin at school.

I learned Latin and whilst it has been useful, it's not all that useful!

Seen as it's not the 'big' stuff, not having sex with my best friend's sister, just because she was the sister of my best friend. I'm over it now, but my goodness she was a stunner and really into me. Some things are just sacred!

so many that i can't list them. the older i get, the more time i use to think back and more and more small incidents crop up in my mind where i should have acted in a different way. what i really regret is that i did not use my last 20 years of "retirement" more efficiently by enjoying life much more instead of wasting my time making money for non-deserving heirs. in essence, i regret that i realised too late that the last shroud has no pockets.

I guess my one regret today has to be living the last fifteen years as a non-stop full on party instead of applying a bit of moderation to my life. I am currently suffering the consequences at my leisure but as they say "if you can't do the tme don't do the crime", equally applicable to the hedonistic pleasures.

Oh, one small thing. I also regret not putting a couple of thousand on Mon Mome in the National.

That I didn't study archaeology at Uni like I wanted to.

I regret the breakdown of my marriage, for my kids sake.

My other regret is getting married in the first place.

I regret that I wasted so much time worrying about how others perceived me, always striving to gain acceptance and respect. Often from people who didnt really deserve my time and consideration. The only person I should have looked to for any of that, was myself.

Crikey. Regrets? Yep, passing my 11-plus and then throwing away six years at Grammar School so my plans (haha) came to naught. But then, where would I be now? Who would I be? It would mean that my daughter would not exist and I'd never have met some wonderful people.

I tend not to worry about regrets. For better or worse, this is who I am. I'm comfortable in my own skin.

OK, this is pretty stupid, but I think of it fairly often

While in Tangiers in 1984, I found a beautiful antique Arab saddle.  This was stunning with real silverwork.  As an equestiran, I really wanted it. I bargained and bargained, and I finally got him down to about $480.  At the very last second, I veered and bought a broken-down peice of garbage saddle which had been used as a prop on one of teh Bond films.  It cost $250 and was probably worth $2.50.  I still haven't a clue as to why I bought that pice of junk and passed up on the saddle I really wanted.

On a more major note. I was going to buy 5 cheap rental houses in San Diego for $170,000 each.  After my somewhat hefty deposit of about $200,000, they rent would have been more than enough to pay for the mortgages with about a $1000 cushion.  They went up to about $500,000 each before the real estate collapse, but they are still worth about $350,000 each.  I had the paperwork in front of me, but I decided to build a mansion on a lake instead.  It took 4 years to build, went way over budget, and I had to end up selling it for a $200,000 loss.

I regret that I never could hit a curveball. An allstar baseball player in all other areas, but at the age of 18 I had to give up on baseball as a player because the curveball would spin me into the dirt. A future Hall Of Fame career cut short by a dead European by the name of Bernoulli .

I do have some friends with daughters that do cause guilty thoughts - but hey, who doesn't?
