Hi guys, need a bit of advice.my wife got a 6 month visa in January at the first time of asking and is due to return home at the end of July.I didnt think she would like Scotland but she loves it and would like to extend her stay or at least come back for a longer stay.If she returns home within the required period. Is it easier for her to get a second visa,do we need to go through all the hassle of documents goin back years, bank statements etc for another visa for her.Or would it be easier for us to apply for an extension whilst she is here.I got all the info needed for her first visa on the forum and i am confident i will find the answers to this dilemna with the help of the forum.

She can't apply for an extension while she is here. She will have to return to Thailand and re-apply as before (Yes, with all the paperwork from before). It should be easier next time, but you should also understand that there is a guideline that a maximum of 6 out of every 12 months can be spent in the UK on a visitor visa, so if she returns, they would probably not give her another visit visa to come straight back.

BUT ALSO REMEMBER. If she overstays then she will find it very, very hard if not impossible to get another visa. Good luck Allan

As I said to you when you asked a similar question in Feb:-

Provided she complies with the terms of this visa then a second one will be a formality; especially if you are resident in Thailand with her. Although you will still need to provide the same evidence as before.

Once she has visited the UK two or three times then she can apply for a longer term visit visa, but remember if she gets a two or five or even ten year one she can still only spend a maximum of 6 months in the UK each visit and a visitor should not normally spend more than 6 months out of any 12 in the UK.

I am not sure if you live in Thailand with her or in Scotland?

If you live in Scotland and she likes it so much, why not apply for settlement so she can live there with you?
