My son has got his UK passport last month on the 30th March from the embassy. He was born in thailand. Does he need to do a visa run?

If his mother is Thai, then he will have a Thai birth certificate and be on her family records and automatically has the right to live here indefinitely.

I assume his mother is Thai since have applied for asettlement visa for her.

You should get a Thai passport for him. It only takes a couple of days. That way he would be able to return to Thailand without a visa.
