Theme Music.

Featured Replies

:o Sorry to have nabbed your title Scea, but reading your thread title inspired me. :D

Simply this:

If you had a theme tune for your life, what would it be (and why?)

If it needed one word to describe me I doubt many people would use inspiring.

My theme tune? Hmm I'll have to think about it... something outlaw country with a touch of blues...

This is soooo fun...

I choose "The End" by Jimmy Morrison.

This is the end, beautiful friend

This is the end, my only friend

The end of our elaborate plans

The end of ev'rything that stands

The end

No safety or surprise

The end

I'll never look into your eyes again

Can you picture what will be

So limitless and free

Desperately in need of

some strangers hand

In a desperate land

Lost in a Roman wilderness of pain

And all the children are insane

All the children are insane

Waiting for the summer rain

There's danger on the edge of town

Ride the king's highway

Weird scenes inside the goldmine

Ride the highway West baby

Ride the snake

Ride the snake

To the lake

To the lake

The ancient lake baby

The snake is long

Seven miles

Ride the snake

He's old

And his skin is cold

The west is the best

The west is the best

Get here and we'll do the rest

The blue bus is calling us

The blue bus is calling us

Driver, where you taking us?

The killer awoke before dawn

He put his boots on

He took a face from the ancient gallery

And he walked on down the hall

He went into the room where his sister lived

And then he paid a visit to his brother

And then he walked on down the hall

And he came to a door

And he looked inside

Father?

Yes son

I want to kill you

Mother, I want to.............

Come on, baby, take a chance with us

Come on, baby, take a chance with us

Come on, baby, take a chance with us

And meet me at the back of the blue bus

This is the end, beautiful friend

This is the end, my only friend

The end

It hurts to set you free

But you'll never follow me

The end of laughter and soft lies

The end of nights we tried to die

This is the end

for now

shall i stay or shall i go now !

Can I be naff and choose 'I did it my way'? :o

Not naff tigs. You choose the one that feels right for you!

For me, well i keep trying to live by this one (posted this version of it cuz is pretty cute):

Good reminder to myself particularly on tough days.

You want to do what to your mother?

I Iike my twee song tiggy, and yeh, i know, i am a big softie. But i dont wanna be a a tough nut. :D (was gonna say tough "cookie" but that brings on thoughts of av-82191.gif and seeing as i know you find that image disturbing, i thought better of it.... :o )

ps well done on the Johnny Cash choices above.

good tunes posted so far.

I loved NIN Hurt when it came out. I'm glad I was a bit older when JC did his version of it, cos i'm able to appreciate it and say it is amazing.

It's pretty hard to choose a single song to represent everything you live for.

Up til now and fro some time now, I guess this is the closest. Sorry for the concept video but ti's the closest to a live original artist performance I could find.

Aside from a few place names, everything is interchangeable.

Must have been a train that took me away from here... but a train can't take me home...

Where was here, and where is home....

Well I broke down in E. St. Louis

On the Kansas City line

and I drunk up all my money

that I borrowed every time

and I fell down at the derby

and now the night's black as a crow

It was a train that took me away from here

but a train can't bring me home

What made my dreams so hollow

was standing at the depot

with a steeple full of swallows

that could never ring the bell

and I come ten thousand miles away

with not one thing to show

well it was a train that took me away from here

but a train can't bring me home

I remember when I left

without bothering to pack

you know I up and left with

just the clothes I had on my back

now I'm sorry for what I've done

and I'm out here on my own

well it was a train that took me away from

here but a train can't bring me home

Different times in my life I have had different themes songs. Most obviously metaphors for what has been going on in my life at that period.

Right now I would have to say I am just getting to the end of this theme period.

Metaphorical remember.

Violent Femmes, Country Death Song.

I had me a wife, I had me some daughters.

I tried so hard, I never knew still waters.

Nothing to eat and nothing to drink.

Nothing for a man to do but sit around and think.

Nothing for a man to do but sit around and think.

Well, I'm a-thinkin' and a-thinkin', till there's nothin' I ain't thunk.

Breathing in the stink, till finally I stunk.

It was at that time, I swear I lost my mind.

I started making plans to kill my own kind.

I started making plans to kill my own kind.

"Come, little daughter," I said to the youngest one,

"Put your coat on, we'll have some fun.

We'll go out to the mountains, the one to explore."

Her face, it lit up, I was standing by the door.

Her face, it lit up, I was standing by the door.

"Come, little daughter, I will carry the lanterns.

We'll go out tonight, we'll go to the caverns.

We'll go out tonight, we'll go to the caves.

Kiss your mother goodnight and remember that God saves.

Kiss your mother goodnight and remember that God saves."

I led her to a hole, a deep black well.

I said "make a wish, make sure and not tell

And close your eyes dear, and count to seven.

Know your papa loves you, good children go to heaven.

Know your papa loves you, good children go to heaven."

I gave her a push, I gave her a shove.

I pushed with all my might, I pushed with all my love.

I threw my child into a bottomless pit.

She was screaming as she fell, but I never heard her hit.

She was screaming as she fell, but I never heard her hit.

Gather 'round, boys, to the tale that I tell.

You wanna know how to take a short trip to hel_l?

It's guaranteed to get your own place in hel_l.

Just take your lovely daughter and push her in the well.

Take your lovely daughter and throw her in the well.

Don't speak to me of lovers with a broken heart.

You wanna know what will really tear you apart?

I'm going out to the barn, with a never-stoppin' pain...

I'm going out to the barn, to hang myself in shame

Cool Change - Little River Band

If there's one thing in my life that's missing

It's the time that I spend alone

Sailing on the cool and bright clear waters

There's lots of those friendly people

Showing me ways to go

And I never want to lose their inspiration

Time for

a cool change...

I know that it's time

for a cool change

Now that my life

is so pre-arranged

I know that it's time

for a cool change

Well I was born in the sign of water

And it's there that I feel my best

The albatross and the whales

they are my brothers

It's kind of a special feeling

When you're out on the sea alone

Staring at the full moon

like a lover

Time for

a cool change...

I know that it's time

for a cool change

Now that my life

is so prearranged

I know that it's time

for a cool change

Well I've never been romantic

And sometimes I don't care

I know it may sound selfish

But let me breathe the air

If there's one thing in my life that's missing

It's the time that I spend alone

Sailing on the cool and bright clear waters

It's kind of a special feeling

When you're out on the sea alone

Staring at the full moon like a lover

Time for

a cool change...

I know that it's time

for a cool change

Now that my life is so prearranged

I know that it's time

for a cool change
