Seonai - Update

Featured Replies

Seonai/Nampeung, one of our ex mods, has asked me to do an update for her friends here in bedlam as she is unable to get access to the internet.

To give a small background, seonai was living on Koh Yai noi 3 years ago when she contracted TB, she moved back to the UK to take advantage of the free NHS treatment as she was on deaths door but for the last 3 years has been undergoing treatment for lung damage & re-occurrences of the TB.

Sadly her body has continually resisted treatments, she has become immune to the various antibiotics & a few weeks ago she was admitted to hospital in Brighton again but has now been told that there is nothing further that can be done & she will be moved shortly to a hospice for the remainder of her life.

She will leave behind a soon to be 14 year old son & they are both naturally devastated by this news. Thankfully Seonais mum managed to move back from Africa a few months ago & will look after Ziyo when she has gone.

I will be visiting her tomorrow as she wants some help on the legal side of her sons future custody (I'm not a lawyer but I am good at kicking ass) but if there are any family law solicitors around I would appreciate a pm for advice but if anyone wants to me to pass on a message, then please post here or pm me.

Oh man, that's so sad, Seonai is a friend of mine. Pass on my best regards and tell her she is in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh. Im so sorry. I hope Seonai has a Iot in her Iife that heIps make her smiIe at this time...

That's sad news, please pass on my best wishes.

Totster :o

I had been wondering how she was faring. Sad to hear the news is not good.

Please pass on my best wishes.

Terrible news, and I worry about riding a MC here and poor Seonai catches TB, considered rare nowadays.

Please tell her I asked after her. :o

A while after I fist read this I looked up some general info on TB as I honestly know very little about it.

I still know very little, but as GungaDin says, it seems its considered rare to catch, and then drug therapy usually works (or so it says). So not only did poor Seonai catch TB, but in her body it is drug resistant. To be one of the smaller percentages of people this happens to must break her, her friends, and families hearts. I feel so sad when with todays medicine, we are still unable at times to fix or cure a persons health. Sadder more when the person is so young.

I dont know what to say. Just that I wish her all the best. Its so very sad.

Over the years this sad story has been ever moving in the wrong direction..............I hope the lady will find peace.

Please let her know she is in my thoughts. Terrible news indeed. :o

Just got back from Brighton, I spent a couple of hours with her, she is very weak, thin & struggling to breath & is on oxygen but she still has her humour & all her marbles, even if she does have to rest for a couple of minutes every now & then. We talked about fate, the last 3 years since she moved back here, the chance of an afterlife, reincarnation, croaking it, cremation, living wills & her wishes not to be fed like a baby or through a tube. Hard to believe but it wasn't morbid & we had quite a laugh although she would like me not to use the phrase "kicked to bucket" when I type out a document expressing her wishes about her son :o She was happy to receive the good wishes & may be able to get back online if her son manages to buy her a dongle for her laptop, how long she has, she doesn't know & I think that is the worst part for her. It was good to see her even under the worst circumstances as we haven't managed to actually see each other in 2 years although we have had calls, txt & facebook but it was like we saw each other yesterday.

This is the first I am seeing this. While I have never met Seonai, she helped me when I first joined TV. She went out of her way to put me in touch with a friend of hers. Most people wouldn't have made the effort. I have nothing but kind words for her and hope she rests as comfortably as possible.

Very sad to hear. I never know what to say in times like this. I just hope she and her son can remain strong.

Will she be able to get back in here Boo. I thought she was banned ?

  • 2 weeks later...

Seonai says hello to all and a very much appreciated thank you for all the good wishes that you have expressed.

Seonai will hopefully be in a Hospice within a couple of weeks, fingers crossed, and it sounds like a nice place, personal rooms, en-suite and French doors out to the gardens, lets hope this happens sooner than later.

Seonai hopes to be on the internet within a week or so after that and will pass on her thanks personally.

Only good bit of good news i've heard in a while.

It would be nice to see seonai on-line again.

It would be nice to see seonai on-line again.

Sadly the Seonai username is banned, Nampeung is not.

If there ever was a reason to bend the rules and un-ban a member I think this is it, Admin????

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

I think that decision needs to be left to her, given some problems she had with other people on other forums and the newest spate of newbie trolls here on Thai Visa, she may not necessarily want to, I've asked Boo to talk to her about it instead of making the decision for her.

I had a fair bit of internet interaction with Seonai a long time ago.

She came over as a great gal, a testament bourne out here by those who know her personally.

I'm so sad to read this news :)

I second that emotion.

Well if they didn't know Seonai was Nampeung, they do now, so I would suggest it hardly makes any difference, it is not as if it is going to be for a long time :)

Are the latest batch a generic bunch of Trolls, or are they somehow attacking Seonai? Extraordinarily sad if the latter and I guess you could put any meaning to 'Sad' and get a fitting and appropriate interpretation.

Moss :D

I hope Seonai's remaining days is getting all the comforts she requires. I remember she had a great attitude on the forum; it's hard to avoid clichéd comments because in this instance they certainly ring true.

Just spoke with Seonai & she is doing ok, moved into the Hospice yesterday & settling in, is nice to be off the hospital ward she has been on for months & is now back online. She doesn't have the energy for thaivisa today but she thinks maybe tomorrow..

She's happy to keep nampeung & thanks everyone for their kind words & thoughts but I'm sure she'll tell you herself as soon as she is up for it.

I'm gonna go down to see her on Sunday & take my son too for a visit, we were worried though that he may be too fascinated with the medical equipment & cut her oxygen off, I don't want to be the mother of the boy who does that :):D
