May 9, 200916 yr Hi all, Though this site and forum is full of usefull info, I am kind of lost on something regarding getting a Non Imm B visum. I am a 29 year old Dutch guy and just set up a company in my (Thai) gf name here In Chiang Rai. I need to go to Bangkok this Monday and thought I could get my visum done while I am there for a couple of days, instead of going abroad. Question is: where do I go? Can the Dutch embassy help me with this or do I really have to go abroad as I read everywhere on the board? By the way, the reason why I didn't apply for it while I was still in my home country is because that was before I had the idea to open a company in Thailand. Hopefully someone can help me. Thanks in advance, Ruben
May 9, 200916 yr You cannot get a visa inside Thailand. Only a Thai Embassy or Consulate outside the country can issue you with an original visa. Immigration, under limited circumstances, can change (convert) an entry stamp into a visa. This is usually done in conjunction with an extension of stay based on retirement, marriage etc.
May 9, 200916 yr You cannot apply for a visa in Thailand you have to leave and go to a Thai consulate In order to get a B visa at any nearby consualte you will need a WP3 work permit application receipt. If you have a tourist visa you can apply for a woirk permit and then get a single entry B visa. Then your your work permit would be issued . Then you could leave and get a multiple entry visa because you probably will not be able to get an extension of stay for at least a year but most likely it will be 2 years.
May 9, 200916 yr Author Thanks guys! A bit strange when you think about it. In order to stay here, live here, work here, marry here, you need to get out of the country first for the right kind of visum, haha!! Guess I am off to Laos after my lil trip to Bangkok than!!
May 9, 200916 yr I may be wrong but not all the local-area Thai Consulates are the same regarding visa-friendliness and unless someone chips in here to correct me and/or provide a list of 'friendly' consulates, you may care to browse this forum for some guidance.
