I am moving to Bangkok from Sydney very soon with my new Thai wife.

I will be on a non imm "O" visa.

I understand that after my first 90 days I have to renew it and if all goes well it will be valid for 1 year.

Do I still have to make visa runs every 90 days after that?

And if so whats the cheapest and safest visa run?

Get a Non-Immigrant "O" visa from Sydney, and extend that to one year at Immigration in Bangkok.

Another option is to ask for a Multiple entry Non-O at Sydney, or at a smaller consulate in Australia. Or try one of the smaller consultes in Australia, for example Perth, Brisbane or Adelaide.
