Sang Khom

Featured Replies

Can anyone please give me any information this place and how to get there from Bangkok? It looks like I might have to fly to Udon Thani, how many flights a day and how much? How much further is it from Udon Thani? Any thing would be helpful is Sang Khom a big place? Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, the best idea is to fly to Udon Thani...Air Asia...Nok Air and Thai Air each have 2 flights daily...

Then you need to get from Udon to Nong Khai which is 50 km north of Udon..There are buses, etc..Sang Khom is about 50 km west of Nong Khai..

Sang Khom is not a big place,,,main street is about 4 blocks long...It is pretty and it sits along the Mekong River..There are many backpacker guest houses in the area...

Easiest is to rent a car in Udon and drive...

There seem to be two different SangKhom !

Is it this one in UdonThani province on the border to NongKhai ?

Good luck. Keep us informed please !

Exeter, if its Sangkhom [all 1 word] its on the bank of the Mekong, Like Stoneman wrote, get a flight to Udon Thani, hire a car or go by bus, its about 110ks from Udon,

Take the Nong Khia Highway, after about 16ks, turn off left to BAN PHU road no 2021, go through Ban Phu towards NAMSOM, [same road] after 30ks look for SANGKHOM road no 2376, this is a right turn, i think also posted are signs to a national park and waterfall, SANGKHOM is 30 ks from that right turn,

Its a pleasant small town with daily markets ect, plenty of food vendors, pop about 4000, lots of river front resturants to choose from and of course, Mekong fish is the main course, as for night life, perhaps a karaoke bar or 2, dont really know? B&B plentiful, from 300/500 bht a night,

Oh yes, try to avoid driving at night, many tractors on the roads without lights ect,

Happy Travels, Lickey..

Lickey...

15 km south of Sangkhom you will see my farm...avocados on the left and rubber trees on the right...Still have to get over and spend some time at your place..
