Hi all,

I have been an avid reader of this forum over the past 2 years as a guest - I now need advise as a new member.

In August I am applying for my 3rd 1 year extension ( I have a Thai wife). The first two extensions were no problem as my monthly income( UK pension) was over the required bt 40,000, but now with the exchange rate at around 55 to the GBP, I am a bit short.

I understand that I can use some funds I have in my Thai bank account in combination with my income to meet the requirement. But was is the requirement then, bt 40,000 or bt 400,000?

Thanks for any advice

You cannot combine Income and Savings. It has to be one or the other. Sorry.

it's not savings, just where I keep some spare cash to use as and when I need to. If the money was in my UK bank, could I get the Embassy to include it when I go for the letter confirming my income?

Here is the rule. It can only be one or the other.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

You would have to talk to the embassy about other ways of showing income. They mention bank statements on the website but I think that has to for a UK bank.

Thanks. I will just have to pray the exchange rate goes back above 58!!!

Cheers

This being for a Marriage Extension of course, but you can still combine the two to get 800k for the Retirement Extension I trust?

Yes you can.
