Actually, just verifying. My son will be arriving on a Tourist Visa which we aim at extending by the 30 days almost as soon as he arrives (like about 4 hours after).

Can anyone confirm that there is no issue doing this?

Have never seen any reports - those of us extending for one year are normally advised only during the last 30 days of the permitted to stay stamp. So there may be an issue.

I don't know if they will do it that early.

With other visas it's within the last 30 days but tourist visas I nomally say a week or 2 early.

You had better rebook your flight.

You have to enter the day before your enter before date that is on your visa.

I expect we'll be finding out then :)

Will report if I remember (getting old and senile).

I v done it 14 hours after arriving, twice. Next morning, Phuket

Cheers for that, we'll be doing it at the Ayuthaya office.

I once made a 30 day extention 2 days after arriving on a 60 day tourist visa. All they said was did I know that I had along time left on my visa and I stated that I intended to travel and would not be near BKK. No problem.

Got a Tourist visa recently and intend to extend for 30 days, I am new to this tourist visa thing as I have previously been on an OA.

What I read leads me to understand that I can extend any time before the expiry date and the 30 days will be added on from the last day. Is this correct?

Also must I extend at my local immigration office or can it be done at any office in the country?

The 30 days will be from the date of your permit to stay you got when entered and got 60 days.

You can apply for an extension at any immigration office.

I usually do it a week early. Going on what one guy said, it's probably doable at anytime during your 60 day stay. You could just tell them you intend to be travelling around and it's more convenient to do it early while you're close to an immigration office if they asked why.

And just an additional point which may not be generally known: An extension is for a FULL 30 days. They don't count the first day as they do when you get a stamp upon arrival.
