Express Bus From Hatyai To Penang

Featured Replies

Hi, is there a bus terminal in Hatyai where I can take an express bus to Penang...thanks

Can't answer for the bus but you can get private or share taxi and van service easily from the downtown tourist offices/hotels area. There is a large bus terminal (they are the transportation center for the area) so suspect service to Georgetown (mainland terminal) is available from there. Not sure if any public service goes direct to Penang Island.

tour agency plentiful around/near every hotels. paid bht270 for share van. you can asked to be picked up at ur :) hotel and also advise your drop point in penang. travelling time is 5hrs.

Buses don't run to Penang from Hat Yai although you may be able to get to Butterworth where the ferry is. Trains also run to Butterworth. Minivan and share taxi are the budget options. Taxis used to sit outside King's Hotel and when they have 4 people ready and willing they take off. It was something like 350 baht per head but that was 5 years ago. They cram em in the minivans yet they are cheap, handle the border, and go right to Lebuh Chulia. As said, there are loads of tour agencies in the centre of Hat Yai for minivans.
