Have any members traveled via Hat Yai and crossed the border into Malaysia for a visa run?

How far is the border is from Hat Yai and is taking a taxi a feasible option to go to the border.

Recommend any hotels in Hat Yai?

Lastly spending a day or two on the Malaysian side of the border worthwhile.

I did this once about 6 years ago, no problems encountered, you need to get some transport as it is about 1.5 hours drive from Hat Yai to the Malaysian Border. A motorcycle taxi will take you across the border and back again.
