...is it possoble to send an email to text for a thai mobile number the same as one can for the US??

Yes, I am aware of web based and desktop utilities that can do this but I am curious what the actual suffix would be for e-mail.

DTAC used to have this service, but recently discontinued it. The suffix was {your mobile number}@mail.dtac.co.th.

Not sure what is available now.

Have a look at www.clickatell.com. Its a paid service (not expensive) but fast and reliable, pretty sure email is one option for sending the message. I have a couple of servers using it to send me warning/error messages when things go wrong.
