Yes they are still available but you can buy anywhere , no need to get from Mae Sai , the cost is not cheaper from there and you would be better buying from a shop local to you incase of any problems with it .

Prices are about 3- 5,000 bht If I remember correctly

thanks but i have not found any in Khon Kaen the one i got last year from Mai Si was 2200bht 12k/w and it works well thats why i am asking cheers for your reply

We have just bought one from the ECOLUX shop about 1.5 Km south of the Mae Khon junction in Chiang Rai. The one we bought is rated at 12 litres per minute [ 8,900 baht.] There are cheaper ones- lower flow rates. Ecolux Branch in Chiang Rai tel 053773 555. or Chiang Mai 053 438 297. The shop tested it before packing. Ecolux had the best selection . Two other shops in CR sell them but with max flow rate of ~ 6 lt. / minute
