Any favorite places for pizzas in Udon?

I love Italian style pizza but would settle for anything, Chicago, NY, California, whatever. I need at least 1 pizza per week to stay happy, so please give me your recommendations :)

Thanks!

Cheers

Ones in Vientiane uses imported flour, there Swedish Bake House, Scandanavia Cafe and bunch of Italian places ...

in Udon, one has to settle for pizzahuts!

Next to Robinsons there is an Italian restaraunt and they make very good Itallian pizzas at a reasonable price. I have heard people say it is the best Pizza in Thailand.

Give it a try

Thanks, DMC. I saw that one but didn't go in because it was completely empty at dinner time. Now I certainly will on your recommendation :)

Thanks for the reminder, Jerry. I always make sure I stay 3-4 days in Vientianne just for the food and wine. Really love the place. Wish it were easier to just pop over for a meal and come back.

Piccolo Roma.

Over the Ring Road from the city head down the Sakon Nakon road.

At the first break in the median strip make a U turn head back towards the city.

Keep your eyes peeled and look for a Red and Green sign for Piccolo Roma.

Turn left and about 200 metres on the left is the restaurant.

Italian owned and good authentic Italian cuisine. You will not be disappointed.

Enjoy!!

Piccolo Roma! Sounds great. I'm heading there tomorrow. Much appreciated for the direction and recommendation, Patriot!

Great to hear about the frozen pizzas at Chern Chim. I saw them in the freezer but was held back by memories of lesser frozen entrees. I'll buy a couple on your recommendations. Thanks, rambler.

Tried Piccolo Roma. I really like the chef/owner and his wife. The place had a very warm atmosphere. They were very gracious and the food was very good. They brought out free appetizers and salads (which we didn't order). Really generous portions. Very good pastas. The pizza was thin Italian style, good sausages--pretty decent pizza overall. I would definitely come back here for the pastas. It's worth the drive.

Patriot's directions are spot on. Just remember to drive very slowly and look for the sign. It's down the soi right next to a defunct-looking gas station.

I heard that a Brit was opening up a pizza place somewhere by the Irish Clock (?). Anyone tried that place or know exactly where it is?

I'll try the place next to the Robinson/Central Mall on my next journey to town.

Thank you Macx, for a good laugh!

A warm atmosphere in the Bunker?they may have saved on the aircon!

Did you ever eat a REAL Italian Pizza?Methinks not,but everyone to his tastes.

The defunct looking gas station has a very brisk trade all day, being one of the cheapest in UdonThani!

Go back to PizzaCompany! :)

Well, I didn't say the pizza was great.

I just like the owner and his wife. They make the place feel rather welcoming. Although there were only a few customers, they all seemed to have a good time and enjoyed the food. The place smelled a bit mildewy at first, but once I sat down, I got used to it. One thing for sure, it's a decent dining experience for the price and for non-tourist area.

Sorry, I'm new to Udon. And so far, it's better than moo-kra-tha or kao man gai for me :)

As for the gas station, thanks for the note. I'll fill up next time. It was very quiet when I came thru around dusk. In fact, I over shot the soi and wound up at the gas station--hence, my observation.

BTW, do you have a pizza recommendation? (other than Pizza Company that is) :D

Glad you enjoyed it. Vittorio and his wife are tops, but unfortunately rubbed some folk from the Udonmap forum up the wrong way.

Anyhow, I've been there about a dozen times and love the menu, and on our next trip up from Ubon will be going again.

I would certainly agree that Piccola Roma does the best Italian food in Udon Thani.

The Bella Italia next to the Charoensri Grand Hotel (Centara) has mixed reviews.

Pizza Co.is fine,as well.Food and service is good but dont expect a gourmet meal !

Not only some folk in Udonmap, why do you think no Italian and only few farang residents can be seen there?

Ask the "tops",maybe you'll have a strait answer,but I doubt it.

No problem,enjoy your meal! :)

Tell you what, next time I'm there, en shalla, I'll invite you for a slap up meal there, wine included.

It's painful to see a good man like yourself dismissing such culinary delights :):D

He will, just make sure he doesn't get the opportunity to stick his head round the corner to give them the nod to throw more salt on!!!!!

Please excuse me for drifting off topic, but a thread has opened on Udonmap stating that Steve (Sports Bar) is shutting up shop and heading for Bangkok soonish. I hope its not true as it'll be a shame.
