I know that Sinbad has posted a question about health insurance companies, but it doesn't quite cover my situation. I'm on a committee that is helping my company choose a new health plan and it's down to AIA vs BUPA. I'm getting the feeling that they're leaning toward AIA because it has a life insurance component (what a surprise--they're mainly a life insurance company!) but I'm trying to focus them more on the actual health insurance benefits--which at the moment, BUPA offers better coverage--but for a highter premium. The Thai committee members are going to see if AIA can match the coverage and then compare premiums (hmmmmm.... and maybe one of their cousins is an AIA rep??!!)

So--my question is---has anyone out there had any recent experience with using either AIA or BUPA? Good? Bad?? Would appreciate as many details as you can tell me. Thanks!!

Have used Bupa and AIA to insure my Thai wife. We have found AIA better. They seem to be much better payers. With Bupa they question everything and seem reluctant to pay. We live in Phuket, so this could just reflect the office manager's decisions. Here in Phuket AIA is better, though this maybe different if you use another location.

Many thanks Sir Burr! Anyone else out there have an opinion??
