Neighbours made a complaint directly to the Banglamung Administration, instead of the local police, over the ‘Phuket Bar’, located on Pattaya Third Road for flouting the law, by opening after hours, playing loud music, taking over the footpath as part of their bar and allowing under aged teenagers to patronize it.

On 14th August, Mr. Pongsit Pitjanun, the Banglamung administrative assistant of the Protection and Suppression Division along with local volunteers, patrolled the areas around Pattaya Third Road, after receiving numerous complaints from neighbours that the bar concerned had opened illegally.

When they arrived at the Phuket Bar, opposite the fire and police station, the bar was found to be open with a band playing on stage. There were tables on the foot path, including parked cars. A man in a black uniform was standing at the front gate as a security guard.

There were over 100 customers, both Thai and foreigners, many of whom were in their 20s and 30s who were found drinking and dancing. The music was stopped as requested by the officials, but received complaints from the customers. The Officials were told that the place belonged to local officials, which resulted in an exchange of words, before they managed to control the situation.

The Official Team, on searching the customers ID, found 4 teenagers under the age of 18, three of them male and one female. They also found the bar to have been operating without a license.

The bar was ordered to close until further notice, with officials reporting to their supervisors and the Chonburi Provincial. Officials are holding the people responsible at the police station, till the matter is resolved.

Closed for illegal opening! Maybe they will also open bars for illegal closing.... :)

They already do. Its the music scam where they illegally confiscate the stereo etc (without even a search warrant) until they extort the bar owner for money.

it opened literally the next day. i've got a modest apt down the street on 3rd road and these thai clubs (4 of them on either side of road)

routinely set up tables on the sidewalk completely blocking pedestrian traffic, stay open until dawn with live bands even though it is a

residential neighborhood with primarily families/children. hundreds of motorbikes parked everywhere, obviously underage patrons as

usual the law is a joke and everyone turns a blind eye. and of course the inevitable fighting/gunshots from the drunken teenagers.
