A group of us are planning to spend Christmas in Khon Kaen.

Previously I have stayed at Khon Kaen Hotel and The Roma Hotel.

This time I was considering the Deema.

Anyone have any comments to make either good or bad?

Much appreciated.

Hi

I stayed there for 1 night but it was nearly 4 years ago now.

I normally stay at the Roma but they were full. The lady

on reception called the Reema and and got me a room there.

It was clean, comfortable and good value at 250 baht

which was a fan room no air. It's close to the bus station

i seem to remember.

Sure. The Deema Hotel is in a quiet neighborhood east of Downtown and just South of Sri Chan Road... nearest larger hotel is the Kaen Nakorn Hotel (directly on Sri Chan) which is also a good choice. The (Sopon) Deema is 250 Baht per night single fan and 280 B double. The Air con is 350 b per night and 400 double. All rooms have free WiFi. I did not look at the rooms but all the hotels in this area are nearly strictly for Thais thus very simple and very clean.

This is definitely not KK Honkey-ville... No nearby Bah-Farang... best if you have your own transport. Plenty of free parking.

P.S. Do not expect any hotel employee at the 2 hotels mentioned -- or any other hotel or business in this neighborhood -- to speak English. Better have the TG or someone else along if you do not speak Thai.

A few years ago i stayed at the Phu Inn, and yes nobody spoke english.

Luckily I had a long-haired dictionary with me :)

Cactus Resort and Hotel looks like a nice place. Prachasamosorn Road is the major East-West road that runs by the Non-AirCon bus terminal and the Provincial Government complex -- Cactus is a little to the east and near the PDR Lao Consulate. I remember going in there 3 years or so ago when it first opened (I think with a different name) and I asked to see the swimming pool. No pool. I asked 'How can you call yourself a RESORT with no swimming pool?' It didn't register.
