International Carrier Needed For Dvd From Bangkok To Perth, Australia

Hello,

We need to send a DVD to an important client from Bangkok, Thailand to Perth, Australia and it has to get there tomorrow, Saturday, August 22nd. All the airlines, Global EMS, UPS, DHL say that the unaccompanied baggage department and one day delivery to Perth, Australia are all closed on the weekend. So, that is why we are looking for a traveler. Someone will be waiting at the airport in Perth to pick up the DVD. It's a legal DVD that we made in our production house for a client.

If anyone is interested or has any ideas please contact me.

Thanks.

and what will happen to the hapless courier when Aussie customs decide to inspect the DVD and find something untoward buried away on it?? It certainly does happen - laptops confiscated and all contents screened using very sophistificated techniques - even mobile phones screened at random. You may be 100% legit but how could you ever prove it....

A huge risk but you will probably find someone silly enough to do it..

gee, thanks for helping.

"gee, thanks for helping."

Your lack of planning does not translate to an emergency for us. Regardless, I'm not sure why you can't send the contents of the DVD via email. Duh, duh, duh.

The post did not include information about the project, business matter, or reason we needed this done right away because, well, it was none of anyone's business. We just needed it done on short notice. If you can help, great, if not, then no reason to respond to the thread now is there.

A DVD can hold around 5 gigabytes of information. You can not EMAIL that large of a file. Plus, the Internet speed for Perth is slow so it would take DAYS for them to receive it. Again, we know all this, I was just looking for someone to help in response to the initial post.

So again I say, "gee, thanks for helping".

We found someone to take care of this for us. No additional replies are needed. Thank you.

Okay, the op's deadline has passed, but as a person who LIVES in Perth and visits Thailand regularly, I couldn't let ZenTraveler's comments pass unchallenged.

1. Perth (Australia) does NOT have slow internet. My HOME internet is ADSL+2 and I can download as 12Mb per second. That's NOT slow.

2. Hotmail accounts these days give you 10Gb (that's TEN giga-bytes) of storage space. A DVD can hold up to 7Gb. Simple solution: create a Hotmail email account and put the contents of your DVD into an account and give the other person your password. Useful for a one off job. I have a number of spare Hotmail accounts.

Thank you, Peter, for your information. I am glad to hear it honestly. My boss informed me of the ''slow'' Internet in Perth as he was just there and he stayed at the residence of the client in question for two weeks and he has slow Internet. Boss made other comments to backup his impression that Perth had slow Internet and was an isolated city.

We use GMAIL and never use Hotmail, MSN messenger, IE, and these type of services. So, that is why I was not aware of Hotmail's extensive attachment limit. Which is now good to know for future projects.

Thank you for your information.

RockerC is quite right, watching TV programmes about Aussie customs makes me think that they'd be suspicious of the pope or dalai lama. You were asking for a 'mule' and I wouldn't have carried it for all the tea in China.

Bad planning on your part and if the client demanded such quick service you should have said 'no' - or would that mean losing face?
