In the early hours of the morning recently, a Pattaya Police Patrol were informed by a

Man threatens to use pawned gun

tourist that he and his friends had detained a drunken Thai man, who was in possession of a gun, and was threatening to shoot someone he had argued with, in front of the Kraphaodaeng (Thai Country) Pub in the South Pattaya area.

The detained man was identified as KhunKongkrit Jirachotiya, aged 33, a market vendor at the Soi Buakhao weekend market. When the police arrived he was in a very drunken state still waving his loaded .45mm gun in the air.

Police discovered that earlier in the evening Khun Kongkrit was with friends at the pub when they got into an argument with fellow customers. As the evening progressed, more was drunk, and tempers shortened. Khun Kongkrit eventually lost his temper and pulled out his gun threatening to kill the other customers. Fortunately, off duty tourist police officers were also drinking at the establishment, and managed to calm the situation until on duty officers could be called to deal with the man.

At the station, Khun Kongkrait claimed the gun was not his, but that it had been pawned to him, by a friend, borrowing money. However, as he had it in his possession, and was threatening to use it, the police will press charges against him.
