Several posters in the Insurance section have recommended BUPA, ING, Thai Life, William Russell etc. for family health insurance (for us, coming out at about 150 GBP per month) but what about health insurance for a young child here in Thailand? Can anyone offer recommendations for policies?

i bang on about WR, cause they are better value for money.

The total price of my policy + my daughters policy (WR bronze inpatient plan) was cheaper than a top range Thai Health plan, and the WR plan gives much higher levels of benefits, including repatriation etc. The second child receives a 25% discount on the police, the third 50% and so on....Can't fault them to date, and we've made a few claims.

Try CIGNA International....all the family are covered in a good plan.

I started BUPA for my son many years ago, still continue, always been very prompt with claims, always very clear and polite response to any questions.

After a lot of research i went for Thai Bupa for myself.

Reasons:

1. Local i.e. in Thailand

2. Fair price

3. No claims discount

4. They pay up quick

5. No cut of age

6. No limit on cost of operations (i.e. pay up to the insured amount)

We also started with Bupa...and had no complaints, however work moved us onto CIGNA...and so far so good. Even covered medical costs for the delivery of our daughter.

If you're thinking of insuring only your child as your title suggests I think you'll find that the insurance companies won't cover a child except with a policy for at least one parent also.
