Need To Move Aircon - Need Some Help

Hello,

I have to move the outside module of our aircondition. Right now its standing on the ground and I would like to mount in onto the wall. For this the 2 pipes which are connectinc both units ( inside and ouside ) are to long.

Can i simply cut those ? Is there any liquid or vacuum which can not get lost ? Does it have to be filled again ? I hope someone can help, before I start to cut these. :)

I would recommend hiring an aircon specialist to move it. Yes the freon will escape from the tubing if it is cut. Yes it will need to be "charged" again correctly. Do you have this specialized equipment and tools?

As Longball has stated yes you will lose whatever the charging fluid they use for house type units. Usually they drain the fluid into a recovery system requiring a manifold & a draw down system. At least in the U.S. Here in Los they probably just let the substance waft into the atmosphere. When they did my fridge the tech had the recovery tank.

You can put the ac where you like. I would make sure to leave enough room not to cramp the unit (in a tight corner or too close to the wall) that way it will not cause excessive heat. & if you can shade is not a bad idea if you have space to place the aircon unit otherwise your bills &the life of the compressor may be higher than you want to pay.

If you are not an air tech....get one they are cheap in LOS & it is really a more specialized field of work.
