Okay, I am a little behind the times here. I just recently discovered The Mighty Boosh. I was listening to NPR when they did an interview with them and I found them to be just funny as people, so I checked out season 1. Wow, how funny and strange. What I love about it is that they are not comic geniuses, no. They do the same sh!t that all my friends and I did when we all thought that we were gonna make it big by being an actor. I used to do the same stupid sh1t and we all thought it was funny but also thought that no one but us creeps would find it funny. The Mighty Boosh has proved us right!!!

This is the biggest difference between American and UK TV, we always say no one will like it, or we can't do that on TV, in the UK they film it anyway just to see what happens and seem to hit pay dirt everytime. At least with comedy, I'm not sure about other things.

There are two main people Vince and Howard, they work in a Zoo and are complete losers, well Howard is. All this crazy outlandish stuff occurs to them. it is really hard to explain, the first season has death, mutants, bubble gum monsters named Charlie and boxing with kangaroos.

HBO make some of the finest telly you'll ever see. 'The Wire' is a masterpiece.

I have not seen The Wire yet. Some of their shows are great some not so much.

Very much agreed Bops. It took me a while to find the humour in the Mighty Boosh, but once I found it, I loved it.

In terms of american shows though, and "not being able to say it" on tv.... I refer you to one cartoon that is hilarious: Family Guy

and one TV show which is essentially what I see myself as becoming: Californication. Outstanding show.
