Looking For A Nanny/maid

Featured Replies

Hi All. Having a nightmare trying to find a nanny/maid down here in Krabi. Issan seems to be where the hard workers come from, so i'm giving this a shot. If anyone has extended family/friends that may be interested, please PM me.

Good salary and live-in (no expenses). We will also pay for travel down from the north.

Cheers

How old are your kid(s)?

Does maid include cooking or just cleaning?

Do they need to have a license (bike/car etc)?

Kids are 3 and 1. Small amount of cooking, but mainly cleaning and looking after kids.

They dont need a license. (most thais dont have them anyway!)

That's fine - just wanted to check if they needed taking to school or something like that.

A few more questions if you don't mind.

Will they be assisting you and your wife or will they be alone with the kids a lot of the time?

Does it matter if they cannot speak English?

Do you mind if the cleaning is done 'Issan style' instead of western style. In other words the house is swept every day, dishes are cleaned, floors are moped etc but that is about the extent of it.

I guess what else is important is a rough guide to what you were thinking of offering payment wise (feel free to PM me if you would like)

I have a few people in mind but obviously don't want to waste your or there time hence all the questions.

Cheers

You can have ours - she's useless!

Ticked all the boxes beforehand:

Family - check.

Keen & Eager - check

Common sense - whoops

Put them on probation for a month

is my advice. I've got 3 more weeks

of a "promised" 6 months to go. Not

fun having someone around your home

that pi**es you off, I can assure you.

- but never move anything to clean under or behind ?????

Good cleaners, where I live in Isaan, are rarer than chickens teeth. The women would rather work the tapioca/rice fields than do housework. I asked my wife why, and she says it's because cleaning isn't a high priority in Isaan rural life. They enjoy what they've been raised to do and that's to work in the fields. Okay you may find someone from a city in Isaan that's different, but you don't specify as to her qualities. The women of Isaan are hard working, but not as cleaners, in my opinion.

One thing I learned along time ago is never employ family to do anything.

CB , best laugh I have had in ages, there wouldnt be no more 3 weeks, pay up and send for a new model.

Surprised your mrs puts up with it, but thats the problem, family.

You got it!!

Thanks to the OP for your PM regarding wages but before I offer any suggestions I really need my other questions answered as well as I don;t want to waste any-ones time.

The wife is Southern Thai and has tried finding someone but it seems everyone around here has the same problem - maids are hard to find. But thanks for the suggestion, i almost forgot i was married.
