Quick Thinking Bank Manager Gets Her Man

Featured Replies

Pattaya Tourist Police recently arrested a Russian tourist after he used a fake credit card to extract 30,000 baht from a branch of the Siam Commercial Bank in the heart of Pattaya City.

The young Russian tourist, Mr. Ivan Azhimov, aged 21, was arrested at the money exchange unit at Siam Commercial Bank on Soi 29/1 Pattaya-Naklua Road, in possession of three ATM cards and a passport all in his name. The police had been notified by the Branch Manager, who after doing extra checks, found that the acceptance codes for the transaction were apparently fake, and she believes the arrested man is probably part of a gang that has been using very good fake credit cards around the town for some time.

Once her suspicions had been raised, she stalled the young man at the bank until the police could arrive and arrest him. The Russian denied that the cards were anything but the genuine article, however, after police took him to the station, a quick check of the police computers revealed that the suspect had been caught doing the same business around Thailand, the last in Phuket.

Police will endeavour to make further investigations and try to apprehend other members of this well organised gang.
