Today's Telegraph has posted a list, yet another, of the fiftry most annoying features of the beloved Internet. I drop a couple of them in here but you are welcome to visit the site here http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/news...e-internet.html and pick out any others that bug you.

1) 'Worse than the Nazis'

"As an [online] discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches." So states Godwin's Law, the observation first made in 1990 that still stands today. Many online communities counter this moronic rhetorical device by ruling that the first person to make a Hitler comparison loses the argument by default.

This crops up very often in ThaiVisa threads as well as the racism handle, it would be a good thing if the ruling stated could be applied here.

8) Pop-up adverts

Websites need to make money and static adverts don't bring in enough revenue. But that knowledge doesn't make invasive pop-ups - particularly those that hide their close buttons - any less annoying.

GRRRR! Nuff said.

14) Comment pedantry

If the US Constitution had been published online, you can be sure that the first comments would have picked apart the spelling mistakes, and blamed the slapdash attitude of Adams, Jefferson et al for undermining the prospects of the nation. Some commenters seem blinded to the essence of online offerings by their irresistible urge to mark.

I'm afraid I've fallen into this trap myself although I do try and keep it light hearted.

Almost as annoying as posting entirely in upper case, but worse that entirely lower case with no spaces (pauses) at punctuations.

I hadn't heard of Godwin's law until recently, but how true it is, just take a look at the 'Big Trouble in Thailand' thread and it didn't take long for the black shirted Tourist Volunteer Police to be labelled Nazi's.

It's a fact that high doses of vitamin B keeps mossies away. Vegemite contains high levels of vitamin B.... spread over your skin may not work as a repellant, but consummed in copiuos amounts it may well do.

I didn't read the list.... one of the things I find annoying is when the system lies to you when downloading a large file: " 45 seconds remaing.....42 seconds remaining.....37 seconds remaining......48 seconds remaining...."
