That'll get the anti-PCers howling in rage. When are they going to realise that some things are just plain bad taste?

This is news to me. Ive never heard of rabbit throwing, nor the cancelling of such an event....and do you notice that no town name is mentioned?

Mr Humphrey B Bear, (that's how I remember the name from my childhood), you need to read better quality newspapers. :)

I emphasise that this is the English Daily Telegraph, not the Aussie tabloid.

It is a real newspaper, but today it had a lot of mad articles in it.

Is Waiau not a town then? Is it just a pig-racing venue?

People could be excused for not realising Waiau was the name of a town.

Personally I thought it was the noise the rabbit made when being thrown.

They should feed the spectators a range of toasted sandwiches,

so they can have mixupma'stoasties.

Waiau is a town, a town with a rabbit problem so bad that (apparently) they have full time eradicators......but nowhere in the article does it say Waiau is THE town that the rabbit throwing occurs. It's a tricky bit of tabloid journalism.

The Aussie Daily Telegraph is a tabloid

The British Daily Telegraph is a broadsheet.

But could still be tricky journalism.

But the RSPCA said the rabbit-throw sent a message to children that dead animals were fun and could legitimately be used as a form of entertainment.

He's got a point you know, it's much more fun when they are still alive.

"Do you throw your dead grandmother around for a joke at her funeral?" he said.

Don't be silly, she'd be too heavy for that. Rabbits are much lighter.

We burn dead people, that ain't too respectful is it?

Whatever you do don't, <deleted>, stomp on that cockroach!

And while we're at it doesn't the polio bug have rights too?

I don't consider it to be about the rights of dead rabbits. How does good taste sound?

I suppose dead people throwing would be a bit over the top though. I can think of a few people who should donate their body to it with out too much mental strain. :)

That brings me to the Easter Bunny Shoot-Out.

Yearly since 1991 the town of Alexandra, in the heart of Central Sth Island of NZ, has organized a rabbit-shooting contest over a weekend around Easter.

People haring all over the hills in their 4WDs, shooting poor lil Bugsy.

Initially it was around 7,000 plus, has dropped off a bit cos of cheats storing chilled bunnies from earlier days......LOL

So, let me get this straight. People actually go to the trouble of filling their freezer up with bunnies. And then defrosting them just before Easter to win a prize?

And what is the prize? To keep all the bunnies they have killed? Then they can refreeze them for the next year? Must have big freezers in Kiwiland.

What makes me think that wasn't a deliberate pun :)

The word was "chilled", Patsy.

Frozen would be no good, just chilled. not frozen stiffs..........<deleted>.

Women, guess allowances have to be given.
