I appreciate that to get TWO tv channels on the PIP feature you need two ubc boxes or tubers, but I can't even get dvd and ubc displayed at the same time.

My tv has the feature, but when I try, it says 'not available'

Without having intimate knowledge of that exact model, have you been through the menu, often there will be a place where you tick which sources you want to be the picture in picture.

The remote may have a button, but the Not Available message suggests that your set does not have the feature.
