4 Monks Disrobed Following Failed Drug Tests At Local Temple.

Featured Replies

Pattaya, November 19 [PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : On Wednesday, the Chief Monk of the Nong Yai Temple in Banglamung requested the assistance of local government officials to perform drug tests on every monk residing at the Temple as he had seen suspicious activity involving young men who were seen to visit the Temple and particular monks on a regular basis. The Chief Monk believed these men were delivering drugs to the Monks and wanted them tested. The Deputy Chief of Banglamung District, Khun Pongtasit, led the testing of 30 monks, 1 Temple Helper and 3 trainee monks. 4 of the Monks failed the urine tests and a search of their room’s uncovered drug taking paraphernalia. The four monks were disrobed by orders of the Chief Monk and handed over to Police who later charged them with class 1 drug consumption offences.
