If Bedlam is restricted to 500+ post members, why is there so often a "guest" or two browsing the forum?

I realise members can log in anonymously, but they are listed as "anonymous user"...what's with "guests"?

Just curious.

Welcome to Bedlam Xbones.

Most need 500 posts to get here.

But my answer to your OP, does quite match this little enigma.

Any ideas anyone?

I've noticed a "stranger" sneaks in occasionally and disappears quickly.

Just a gremlin in the system, or MiGgies cousin getting a free look.

the guests are spider bots...but they cant really read anything

strangers = anonymous users?

i also ask this question maybe a year ago ...........

I'd like to know who "viora" is (Or something like that).

A root admin person who joined yonks ago yet has very few posts. Just curious like.

He's our system administrator or something. I believe he's from Bulgaria or something.

Basically, he's Big Brother.

I believe he's from Bulgaria or something

Romania, actually.

There's another admin "Tomat" who has no posts, what's his role in the whole set-up?

they seem to do freaky IT things :)

Ha! Now I do have a post which you can see :)

My role is purely behind the scenes, that's why I do not post in the public forums.

Ah, well thanks for breaking your (public) silence and posting here! :)

What is a spider bot? :)

its one of those net talks I picked up over the years :)

its these creepy crawly things that go on to websites so they can determine the content of the sites, and thus be able to match them wiht search criteria when people are looking for stuff

there are other purpose of these bots, but Ill let the experts elaborate (and hopefully confirm my first suggestion?)

Thanks guys, I had no idea they even existed & now Im really freaked out......these dam_n machines are going to take over the world and turn us all into slaves :D:)

I had a Trojan last month and everything I did to get rid of it, it neutralized. It was almost as if it was aware of the danger it was in and fought for it's life.

Like something out of the terminator movies.

^I can see this is going to be a long day, you do plan on going out somewhere dont ya scud?

Im starting to feel as if you are one of these spiderbot thingies

^yes, you are a sad case my friend, there is no 'our' in you :)

I only complain about uninvited guests if I have to feed them. :D

They can stand at the window and watch all the goings on as long as they don't report me to the police. :)

^WATCHING YOU......Christ Ian, Im not sure what would be worse, watching ur bald cranium or ur hairy arse going up and down.....eeeeew, no thanks SICKO :)

It's not ME they are watching. It's my "friends". :D

I had a whole box of Trojans last month. Prefer Durex though.

Interesting; I was trying to embed a YouTube clip...experimenting how to do it in Alex Lah's "Time To" thread.... 4 "guests"

were in the thread. 4!

I did experiment with the insert HTML thingy, and also the wrap in code thingy...I wonder if either of those called the guests.

It's like something out of a Len Deighton novel, the hero is going about his honest toil and turns to see a group of faceless men standing in the shadows watching him.
