Do You Ever Kick Yourself?

Featured Replies

Got involved in a squabble the other day and only days after I suggested that a particular thread shouldn't go down a certain direction, what do I do, crash in with my size 4's.

Take the thread off topic and it results in nothing but insults and flames and the poor posters that have kept the thread alive for the past year are hacked off.

Why do we do it?

To err is human, to forgive, divine.

Sometimes it's hard to hold one's tongue, especially when it involves putting idiots in their place.

What are you on about Mossy?

I wish I knew,

but it looks like Courty read the thread

I do find myself getting involved in the news section sometimes after a few too many beverages, never a good idea.

I avoid the news section; it's never about news, only opinions offered as facts.

:) No I didn't....Endure's cartoon says it all, though.

Because of what kicked off my thread:

post-28619-1258749344_thumb.png

I seem to have developed a habit of shouting troll after a few beers recently, I sometimes can't even remember doing it until I stumble across the post.

TROLL!!!!!

Newbies or wannabe trolls occasionally ask what a troll is.

I'd say it's almost certainly derived from the angling technique of trailing, or trolling, a lure on a line through a shoal of fish inviting a bite.

Trolling is a method of fishing where one or more fishing lines, baited with lures or bait fish, are drawn through the water. This may be behind a moving boat, or by slowly winding the line in when fishing from a static position, or even sweeping the line from side-to-side, eg when fishing from a jetty. Wiki

OK, this time I poured a single malt.

Lets see what happens tomorrow, when I can't :)

The only time I kick myself is when I've gone to the effort of researching and responding to a question in detail... only to have a shakey Thai internet kick out just before I go to post it... and I lose everything I've written.

When I lived in Vientiane I used 'net cafes a lot. The power connection is notoriously fickle there and it was quite common to be sitting there when the lights went off and there would be a great anguished howl as some backpacker had his three page email disappear into the void.

My policy was "save every ten lines".

Yeah, I hate it when that happens, Im sure its a conspiracy :)

How'd that work out for you Moss?

How'd that work out for you Moss?

To be honest K', I have tried recently to keep out of fire fights, but I find myself amongst them anyway.

In particular regard to your post, I could have easily thrown in a hand grenade, but I chose not to, I guess I am happy with that, but sometimes you have to ask questions, if they evade the crux of the matter, well it speaks volumes.

How are you doing? And don't go into detail, I am a quiet Irish, Catholic, Innocent boy, as you know, outline will do.

Moss

I wonder who was the first person to suggest kicking oneself? :)

I guess its a bit like beating oneself up.

I know a few people who enjoy a light caning occasionally.

I fit most descriptions of a "TROLL"..

You obviously took the top pic Ian, specifically for this thread or site??

Perhaps George could add that into our official icons list and we could have our very own designer troll icon.

I think Scuds picture of himself is just too disgusting to use. :)

Kicking oneself is silly....if you do it properly, you trip yourself up.

Giving oneself an uppercut, however.......

....No, that's no good either if you do it properly. :)

:)

Pretty decent over here, Mossy. Got me some small semblance of peace and momentary stability, which be rather pleasant to wallow in.

Gf's finishing her MBA and then we'll probably be upheaved to something, somewhere...

Which single malts adorn your lovely home these days?

Got me some small semblance of peace and momentary stability,

Well, if it is good, treat the whole situation with respect, you'll be fine I'd say.

At this moment I am partaking of a Balvennie 12y.o and I have been given a Jura 10 y.o which I will sample after the Glenmorangie is finished.

The only part of drinking I occasionally miss is a good malt or a glass of decent red wine.
