What Office In Bkk To Start The Adoption Of Thai Spouse's Child

Featured Replies

All things are pointing to the Child Adoption Center on Ratchawithi Rd in Bangkok near the Victory Monument.

Went to the District office in Baang Bua Thong and they said go to the main office in Nonthaburi.

We did that but it looked like that was an office to handle adoption of Thai-Thai couples.

They drew me a map which points to the Child Adoption Center on Ratchawithi Rd.

A web site I found about the Child Adoption Center in Bangkok: http://www.adoptinginthailand.com/start-th...nd-adoption.htm

mainly talks about adoption of Thai children not currently living with the family or not a child of the mother.

The question is: does this office handle cases of a farang husband living with Thai wife in Thailand and the husband wants to adopt the child of his Thai wife?

legally you are the guardian of your wife kids, responsible for them equally as you wife.

you can try to change their surname to yours.

You have not mentioned where the biological father is or his status in the child’s life. If he has not or will not give up his rights, you will need to go to court in your wife’s home province and get approval from the court. Once that is done, because you are a foreigner, it will have to be approved by the minister of foreign affairs office in Bangkok.

The information I got some years ago from a member here (barryofthailand) was to use the Dept of public welfare Child Adoption Center. Phone number 02-246-8651, 02-247-9484, or 02-247-5084. They do handle foreigners who live in Thailand adopting their wives children and should appoint a social worker to help on the case.

Good luck.
