H1n1 Prevention Meeting Arranged By Public Health Department

Featured Replies

The Public Health Department of Chon-Buri is taking preventative measures against the second wave of the potentially fatal H1N1 virus, by setting up an advisory program/meeting.

Pattaya, the 24th of November 2009 [PDN]: Director of Ao Udom hospital in Chon-Buri, Dr Sirach Lochitranon declared that the Public Health Department in co-operation with all the public and private hospitals are organising an open air function to remind the public of the dangers of the new strain of H1N1 virus. The meeting will also inform the public on ways to prevent the spread. The event will be held in front of the Pacific Park Sriracha Shopping Center.

Dr Lochitranon further explained that a group of 120 motorbikes with advertising material on display will drive from the Bangpra market to the Pacific Park Shopping Center further to the arranged meeting.

The 2009 strain of the H1N1 flu is highly contagious and originated from the A/H1N1 virus. All together the sickness has been contracted by 27,637 people in Thailand of which there have been 170 deaths. The Sriracha region alone has had 327 people contract the flu of which 4 people have died. Sriracha is the district with the most hit people in the Chon-Buri area; this is why the Public Health Department has decided to organise the function at the Pacific Park Shopping Center.
