Planning To Move, Samut Prakan/ Bang Na

I am planning to relocate my family to another part of Thailand. I was considering Bang Na or Samut Prakan

I would be grateful for any advice.

I need somewhere that will be near a good Anuban/primary school for my son.

It needs to be a fairly cheap townhouse.

It should be a safe area for my son (i.e. a road without too much traffic)

I am planning on driving up for the day in a few weeks so any suggestions would be great.

If you could suggest an exact location that would be fantastic.

Regards

lived for a spell around suk 101/1 border of bang na

when you find a place you like, be sure to drive by 2 - 6 am a few nights and see if there is a non stop choir of yelping dogs screaming thru the night - that was what i had, left soon after.

1 would bark once at about 0130, then it would build up to 1000 of them (it seemed) barking and howling all around for hours

There are dogs around that area and I nearly run them over often late at night. I live in a moo bahn and no soi dogs get in so it's not a problem for me. I'm on 101/1 also.

How much do you want to spend on tuition? Thai/international school/bi-lingual?

I would not be able to afford an international school at the moment, I try and involve myself a lot in my son's education so I'm hoping that this will make up for my lack of financial resources. If there was a reasonably priced school in the area 30,000THB a term. I am more concerned with dedicated teachers rather than fancy ones. Any suggestions welcome.

Since you have a car, the housing estate, Baan Suan Lalana near to Bangna 8km (where Tesco-Lotus Bangna is) may be suitable. There is a good local primary school called Krungthep Pitthiya a mile away (opposite) Ramkhamhaeng University Bangna campus with school vans for the kids.

Baan Suan Lalana is a mixed development of condos and townhouses with children's playground and a swimming pool on 25 rai of land. Rental for unfurnished condo units from Bt5,000 for a 2-bedroom 1-bathroom 60m2, or Bt10,000 for a 3-bedroom 2-bathroom 120m2 unit. Townhouses 2-bedroom 2-bathroom renting out unfurnished from Bt12,000.

I do not see much ads on the net, but you can make a visit and check out the units displaying 'For Rent/Sale' signs.

There are expats with families from western and asian countries staying there as well. I think some are teachers in the international schools in Bangna area.
