No Thai Passport Queue Anymore?

Featured Replies

Just curious if this is normal process now but on arriving at Swampy around 6pm on 27th November we noticed there were no Thai passport queue options anymore. Only all passports & diplomatic. People with small kids were being sent to the diplomatic queue so we were spared the long wait but normally we all got through the thai queueu as 2 out of the 3 of us are thai citizens.

Is this a permenant thing now or was it just a busy day I wonder?

Where were you arriving from?

I've noticed some times on arrivals that there are less Thai passengers from certain destinations so maybe they cut back staff for those flight arrivals.

Oh, and it was food time too so the immigration officers were probably off eating.

lol, good point about the food time :) We were in from Dubai & there were quite a lot of thais on the flight but who knows???!!

Thai passport desks at Swampy yesterday afternoon and long queues at the foreign passport desks.

work mate came through this morning...and they were there.

must have just been that time then, after being cooped up on the plane for 6hrs the boy had wanted to have some fun on the moving floor so by the time we got to immigration it was packed so was grateful they sent us through the diplomatic queue otherwise it was a long wait. I could see a lot of the Thai travelers were confused too by the lack of Thai queue.

If you are a Thai citizen, you can ask the officer and they will open a new desk for you or you can go to the Diplomatic (usually they will guide you to the diplomatic desk)

It's that simple. They are obliged to service Thai people first.

The reason behind this is because Thai passport holders will soon be able to use an electronic immigration door that is now set up in the airport.

Will tell that to my wife....every third time she is getting in a fight with the officers there.....

I flew in about 6 weeks ago and didn't see such a door. Where have they set it up?

There was supposed to be an E-gate set up a few years back...saw some being installed at Don Muang. Looked like an extended version of the gate you go through to get on the skytrain. Problem was, they never worked so they weren't at the new aiport when it opened.

Will be flying again in 3 weeks. Will look out for it.

I did just that.

Having flew from Florida, 27 hours later my flight touched down at SUV. Seeing long queques at 'Foreign Passport' boots, but none 'Thai Passport' counter open.

Saw 4 immigration agents milling around by the corner, I approached them, saying in Thai......" khun-Thai -kao-kew-te

-nai-ka ( Where the Thais queing ?). With that one of the lady agent went straight to the boot and started serving. :)
