Chiang Rai Internet

Featured Replies

I am thinking of moving to Chiang Rai in the near future and would be interested in what broadband internet options are available...costs..waiting times ...quality etc. Please note I am not interested in knowing about internet in guest houses or hotels though this may make an interesting seperate thread. The area I am most interested in is between the New Malina hotel and Wat Si Sai Moon.

Costs are the same as anywhere else in Thailand, check the providers website. As for speed and reliability, I found both improved when I moved from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai (a few years ago) probably due to less overselling/fewer users.

I'm happy with what I get from TOT, about 800B a month for unrestricted downloads. Can't remember the techy details but I downloaded a full music CD album from a torrent site in about 2 hours last night.

There's faster service available for more BBBB.

4 meg down 512 kbps up. I download a complete movie in less than 1 hour.

You wouldn't get it that good in Australia, I know people there who leave their PC running all night to download a movie.
