I believe in putting an end to war by putting my life on the line nonviolently and creating peace where there was only war. War killed those innocents, not peace. Death ruled your country. You live in a far worse fantasy or nightmare.

C'mon, Samui ain't that bad.

You have a point.

Actually, it is because there are so many dishonest reports by the anti-government types

about how and why things are done that anyone with more than half a brain starts looking for more sensible scenarios.

Most people trust democratic governments more than the anarchist weirdoes that haunt the internet making up wild stories and trying to make people believe in them.

It is very easy to see there is dishonest reporting everywhere. That is yours to decipher. There are wild stories that come out everyday here & many stem from the places you seem to think does no wrong.

But you are a classic case of what I was describing. You immediately have to defend all of it.

You have to place everything & everyone who does not have your blind faith into a box & call it anti blah blah blah.

Funny freedom of choice has little rank in your world. Same goes for the other post you just made

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Country-Foun...61#entry3253061

EXACT same M.O. either agree with me/my govt. or your all wrong & then you have the gall to accuse all those you boxed of being the ones who did the boxing :):D .

In your world anyone who is not 100% free from free thought is Anti govt / Anti War ? PC...ect.

In the linked post you go so far as to claim all these threads should be shut down..........reason? Same...you dont all agree with me/my govt & again top it off by saying it is the other sides fault & they want everything their way........Classic.

If you cannot take info & decipher without going ballistic it, then dont read it. :D

This is the world ....get over it. You can have any opinion you want but...allow others the same freedoms. It is after all not your govt alone your defending.

Shouldn't it read, "You! Stop Answering Questions!"?

Meun Gun

I suppose this could be a simplistic explanation.

You steal my house. I move into a tent on next door's back lawn and throw stones on your roof until you get sick of it.

You're much bigger than me so you keep coming over and beating me up and knocking my tent down but I persist.

You finally get sick of it and give me back MY garden shed. I use the garden shed as a vantage point to throw more stones on your roof.

You howl with outrage and run to the neighbours squealing about how unreasonable I am and deserve a good kicking (which you proceed to give me) for being in total disregard of neighbourhood law.

I never noticed you addressing my allegations that the state of Israel was founded on terrorism and the murder of British servicemen.

\

Does this mean that Australian Aboriginals should start throwing stones to regain their land that the white man has pushed them out of. And demand reparations for their rotten treatment? the stolen generation that continued in some cases up to 1970 (wikipedia stolen generations) would that be considered terroristic? removal of ones children doesn't sound friendly

Its not like their weren't Jews in Isreal before WWII.

They have demanded and are getting reparations. They are also reclaiming land under the Mabo court ruling.

There were Jews in Israel around 4000BC if you read the Bible.

Bad Google search day?

Any prime real estate or mainly crap land like many Indians got in the US?

We never moved them onto reservations, just killed any that were on land that was any good.

Measles and smallpox were great land clearer's as well.

Certainly cut down on the paper work.

Does this mean that if Australia is guilty of something, Australians can't point a finger elswhere?

Does that in turn mean that America's treatment of the American Indians means that Amreicans can not complain about terrorist actions off their shores?

I don't think the situation behind the stolen generation would be considered terroristic by any stretch of the imagination...an odd conjecture.

Obfuscation is not helpfull to the discussion.

I see I have introduced you to a new word, Harcourt. "Obfuscation" sounds sooooo Continental.

I don't think the situation behind the stolen generation would be considered terroristic by any stretch of the imagination..

Isn't this the guy who went on about how Australians would not try to deny their crimes and so forth. :)

I'm happy to leave you to the joy of thinking you have taught me something. I understand how you would get satisfaction from that.

If I was to learn something, from you or anybody, I would be happy to acknowledge my appreciation.

Meanwhile, once agian,....this is getting repetative..... why not target the arguments rather than the spelling, the words, the alleged lack of intelligence, of the person that you argue with?

Besides, you are supposed to be the old one here, I'm just the young whipper snapper... lead by example wise old one.

Yes, this is. Why do you ask?.....why do you ask and quote that sentence of mine? I don't see a connection between your question and my quote.

One thing I always try to teach the younger generation is how to use "Spell Check". You might try it on your post above.

Not that I am being picky or anything but don't you think proper spelling signifies a higher degree of intelligence?

Oops! I asked another question. Sorry about that.

Hmmmmm...so you're saying the ability to successfully use "Spell Check" signifies a higher degree of intelligence?

I think that says it all in regards to the level of your standards.

Let me get this straight Spanky..............

In another thread.......

You saw no problem with the fact that soldiers assigned to the task of discerning

enemy combatants from innocent civilians, need to have their weapons operating manuals

dummied down to 10th grade comprehension levels.

Yet you require proper spell checks on internet forums?

Ask away on the questions as that is a freedom supposedly insured by the US Constitution

but.....It would be nice if they were questions dealing with the topic & not minutia. :)

Unless of course your of the mind......

Many newspapers are written on a third grade level, so 10th grade is not "dummying down."

Do you ever get anything right? :)

brilliant come back :D

Worthy of that 3rd grade level.

Is that how its done? Or do you want to talk/discuss/debate at a better level?

If so how many misread newspapers does it take to level a village?

Is there any chance that we could have Bedlam back from the playground bullies?

Funny how being rude is perfectly OK when YOU do it.

What is good for the goose is good for the gander. :D

Again you refer to my use of "Chucky" as "name-calling". Again I point out that it is hardly "name-calling" and certainly not derogatory. If you really consider yourself "above that", why do you respond in kind to "Harry"?

I lowered the tone of our discourse, and I apologised and refrained thereafter.

You then brought the antagonism back with your peurile gaffawing emoticon instead of actually saying something.

Laugh in someone's face, expect to get a slap.

I am sure you do not honestly think that I needed the definition of "impugn"....therefore I conclude that you initially googled the word to correct your own ignorance, and decided to try to make a slight towards me since you had the information at hand and it was novel to you. You should not judge others by your self. We do not all have such a limited vocabulary.

Er...um...by the way, both the words "peurile" and "gaffawing" are just a teensy bit wrong.

I believe the words you are looking for are spelled "puerile guffawing".

Do you also think people with such a vast vocabulary should be able to correctly spell their words?

PS: No emoticons were injured in the making of this post.

Again, the only factual things you can pull me up on are spelling. It really is sad that you are arguing for the US but your only arguments are with your detractor's spelling.

Do you claim that dyslexics will have a small vocabulary or are unintelligent?

I'm still waiting on you to respond to my question about your waving of the white surrender flag and my shooting it out of your hand.

You should know, however, when you place yourself on a pedestal claiming superior knowledge, you had better not make some silly mistake. It WILL be pointed out to you, if for no other reason than to deflate your oversized ego.

I do not claim dyslexics possess either a limited vocabulary or are not intelligent. What does that question have to do with the current discussion?

You really should try and concentrate on a single subject with each post. Your mind tends to ramble around.

I have already stated my position on proper spelling. Have I questioned anybody else's spelling mistakes?

In my humble opinion, if anybody is being verbose and using three dollar words, they better be able to spell them.

"....In my humble opinion, if anybody is being verbose and using three dollar words, they better be able to spell them. ...."

I suggest the correct grammar would be to insert "had" in between "they" and "better".

Is there any chance that we could have Bedlam back from the playground bullies?

It's only bullies bullying bullies endure.

If it gets too much just take a few days off from OTB like I do.

Some times the kitchen does get too hot. :)

Why?

Congratulations, by the way. You were able to get all the way through a post without misspelling anything. :)

Now why don't we put this one to bed. Just take an old man's advice and, if you use unusual words in order to show all of us your expanded vocabulary, please spell those words correctly.

OK?

Why?? Because it is the correct grammar...I would have thought that reason was self evident.

You allege that I use a vocabulary that is larger than your own, to show off?

An odd accusation, but understandable considering the extent of your limited lexicon.

Actually, the vocabulary I use is an average vocab amongst the people with whom I usually share a discourse. If I was writing to a readership of children or non-English speakers, then I would have adjusted it.

In future, if I reply to you directly, I will make the neccessary adjustments.

I will continue to appreciate your spelling corrections. Some of that appreciation will be in the knowledge that you have had to look up the word, and thus I have expanded your own word-power.

You're welcome. :)

You allege that I use a vocabulary that is larger than your own, to show off?

Where have I said your vocabulary is larger than mine?

It is simply more pompous.

Bad Google search day?

I kinda think the tongue in cheek, weren't there Jews in Israel ,remark would show a knowledge of semetic cultures without having to resort to a google search. I've read the Bible and the Quran and certainly found the former more entertaining than the latter

[

......., if it were up to me, I would have gone into Bosnia (which we did) and Rwanda (which we did not). Having the power does obligate us to protect those without the power, in my opinion.

Yeah, Rwanda: Shame shame shame on all of the West.

As for having the power....yes indeed, there is an obligation.

What say you on Palestine? They have no power and are being destroyed slowly and subtley (sometimes not so slowly or not so subtley).

I am not bashing Israel here as they have faced wars with the sole intent on eliminating them from the face of the planet, and they have been under a siege mentality for most of their existence. Give most nations their pressures, and see how they would react.

And I do not resent the Golan Heights issue. If Syria hadn't invaded Israel, the Heights would not have been lost, and keeping it protects Jerusalem from further attacks.

But I have also been to the West Bank, I have spoken at great length with Palestinians in Jordan and with a few in Israel, and I understand their plight. I personally think the US should not be in knee-jerk lockstep with everything Israel and really try to broker a two-state solution which is workable. The problem is that I don't think we have the power to do so.

That's a pleasantly moderate approach.

I disagree with you, though; America DOES have the power. I think it is biased and shirks it's responsibility in this regard.

edit...out of respect for this thread....perhaps this current discussion should go to the "1000 Palestinians thread"?
