Ok, apparently the new BMW S1000RR became available for testing, and Motorcycle News (U.K. magazine) managed to actually strap one on to a dyno. 183 h.p. at the rear wheel!!!! We have a new literbike king!

Dyno Run of S1000RR

I know that you can pre-order it in i Sweden and that the price is SEK 169 000 (around 778 000 baht at todays exchange rate).. This compared to a zx-10r or yzf-r1 - both sold at around SEK 155 000 (713 000 baht). I doubt the price for the beemer in Thailand will be anywhere around these figures though:)

It sure is beautiful and ugly at the same time and I would love to take it out for a test drive if it will be sold in Thailand..

cheers,

Johan

Just had to steal this one from a swedish superbike forum:)

Thats interesting a chain instead of a drive shaft.

Thats interesting a chain instead of a drive shaft.

This is the BMW from World Superbike. They did pretty well this year, considering it was their first year. Not as good as Aprilia, no podiums, but they didn't embarrass themselves. In fact they did better than Kawasaki, considering they - BMW- only had two bikes out there.

183hp? Don't think it makes it The literbike king. I believe the MV Agusta F4 has 193hp.

The linked article figures that 183hp at the wheel means actually 200hp at the crank. Ugh!!

Interesting also the comparison with other bikes in the article:

Akrapovic Stock Dyno Results (2009 or 2010 models)

BMW S1000RR 185.5 @ 13,120

Aprilia RSV4 165 @ 12,400

Ducati 1198S 157.4 @ 9,800

Honda CBR1000RR 170.6 @ 12,290

Yamaha YZF-R1 161.6 @ 12,430

Kawasaki ZX-10R 163.1 @ 12,150

Suzuki GSX-R 1000 168.1 @ 11,900

Kawasaki ZX-14 174 @ 9,400

Suzuki Hayabusa 179.5 @ 9,300

In black it looks like the Darth Vader of Motorcycles. Would be my choice. Would, if that bike wouldn't cost ridiculous amounts of money, which I am sure it will in the LOS. Hmm... I need to somehow push for a FTA with Germany :)

Drooooooooooooooool .... :D
