Rimmer Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 On Monday Evening at Pattaya City Hall, Police Lieutenant General Griengsak, the Commissioner of Region 2 Police, who was joined by Khun Itipon, the Mayor of Pattaya and other senior police officers, held a press conference to announce the results of a Province-wide Crime Suppression Operation held in accordance with instructions from the National Police Chief. The operation, which was repeated in provinces around Thailand was designed to rid the streets of criminals, drugs and guns in the run-up to the New Year Festive period. Here in Chonburi the success of the operation was there for all to see as the General announced the seizure of a significant amount of drugs and firearms and the arrest of 5,473 people around Chonburi Province. A selection of the arrestees was there at the Press Conference. Pattaya’s Mayor suggested the Police Operation will send a message to residents and Tourists who reside here in Pattaya that the Police are working hard to suppress all forms of crimes and make the streets a lot safer.
