Is There Customs Duty To Reimport A Thai Made Bike From Usa To Thailand?

I am pretty sure those aren't made in Thailand yet. The Ninja 650R, yes, but not the ZX6R or ZX10R. Even if they were, unlikely it would make a difference because i believe it is where they are zoned for sale, not where they are built that determines import tax.

The exciting news here is the price. That's only 216,000 baht! Some of the estimates I saw predicted that bike would sell in the 400,000 baht range in Thailand. I was predicting it would be around 325,000 or so if it was built here or they reduced the import tax from Japan. We'll just have to wait and see.

ZX6R and ZX10R are not manufactored in LOS. ZX6r If made in us or japan its 80% import duty (5200usd), 35% excice tax on bike invoice (6499usd x 0,35=2275usd) and importduty (5200x0,35=1820usd). 13519usd + 7% vat=14.465usd = 506.000 baht + emission/reg 80kbaht+++ Rough calculations, forgot shipping and all taxes applicabel on shipping invoice

Was talking to someone yesterday who will guarantee a clean book on 1l and less bikes for 75 from 'invoice', emissions the works. They need the bike for 7 to 10 days in bangkok.

If you broke that bike down and shipped it in as parts you might look at <30k excise and hopefully <30k import duty. These numbers were the hazy part as their connection generally does invoice bikes to reg not no paperwork to reg. They are going to ask in the new year but they were guestimating that for 135 ish maybe a bit more in some 'grease' they could take a bike on temp import papers to legit thai reg, clean on a bangkok plate. This bit is unconfirmed tho so is a bit guesswork I will follow up once the holidays are over.

Even so, when looking at the high 700's numbers on 1050 triumphs, or new R1's, its a big difference.

Submaniac, if you study the us bikes parts, are there any parts made in Thailand? Like brake discs, calipers, all hoses, rims, electric wiring, lights etc. The thai bikes are made of at least 70% thai made parts.

Hmmmmm...interesting. I do not know about the Kawasaki Ninja/ZZR. I do know the parts from putting together my Honda CBR1000RR, and I do not recall seeing anything that said where it was made. Like the brake discs aren't marked, the calipers only say "Tokico", there's no markings on the wiring harness. The VIN plate says "made in Japan".

P.S. LivinLOS, if your contact is legit and you are following up with him, could you PM me his contact information. I want to bring over a harley by disassembling it and shipping it in as parts. Can he also arrange/accept the shipping of parts and creating the invoices? Thanks.
